Got to explore a lot of Copenhagen on a 10 hour layover. Spent a couple hours sketching the harbor, Nyhavn over lunch and coffee.

I’m actually feeling really excited tonight! Tomorrow… or rather today I’m going to Barnes and Noble to pick up a copy of a book I did the illustrations for! This is a first for me being a published middle grade book illustrator! :D I am excited to see how all the printing quality came out! I’ve been having a hard time getting excited about life stuff lately, so this feels really nice. It’s not my favorite art I ever made, but I’m definitely so proud of myself! <3

Artist Kehinde Wiley Explains Why Empire Is So Successful
When one of Empire‘s masterminds, creator and director Lee Daniels, asked New York-based artist Kehinde Wiley to be a part of the show, he added—according to Wiley—”[The show] will either be the hugest success or the biggest car wreck known to man.”

Congress voted Wednesday to fund the government through Dec. 11, a temporary measure that averts a government shutdown at midnight. Thursday marks the beginning of the government’s 2016 fiscal year and federal agencies would have had to furlough thousands of government workers if Congress had not reached agreement on a funding bill.

An editorial illustration for the Commonwealth Times for an opinion piece called “Not Just a Number”. It was about VCU’s intention and reality of helping students individually in such a large university.
The past is packed with monsters! Behemoths by the dozen! Let’s meet these fossils! (and their less colossal modern cousins)
Earth’s ancient history is full of giant versions of modern animals. Evolutionary forces (competition for resources, changes in climate) pushed these species to become incredibly large. And I’m not just talking about giant dinosaurs - there were huge mammals and marsupials too.
A lot of these giants lived in the Pleistocene, an epoch stretching from around 2.5 million to 11,000 years ago. Mysteriously, the extinction of many of these animals coincides with humanity’s arrival as a dominant predator.
Watch a video / listen to a poem about these prehistoric monsters.

I love me some prehistoric megafauna…
We can thank some of these extinct giants for the evolution of the avocado. Don’t believe me? Watch this:

I went coffee hopping and did this sketch of the Classic Rock Coffee. I just finished it digitally today. I loved doing the electric guitars!
Go out and draw today, everybody! :)
Before going to researchers, the bees at the American Museum of Natural History get beautified.

I love weird jobs. Anything that you can say, “Oh yeah, today at work I ________ ed.” and giggle is the best. For example: Oh yeah, today at work I shampoo-ed a bee with a paint brush.”
Giggle.
My final poster for this season of Radical Change at the Firehouse Theatre. This one is for Maple and Vine. It’s the story of a New York power couple who decides to live in a cult that acts like it’s 1955. It’s ridiculous and very fun. I had a blast with this old fashioned television set!
