I like friends.
Hi! I've been viewing your work for a little while now and I just wanted to let you know that after looking through your blog, I feel inspired to challenge myself and quit comparing my work to others. I am a freelance photographer in college and have been struggling with self-doubt. Your pictures have shown me that there is really no means of comparison - everyone's creative eye is different. I really admire your point of view, keep up the great work.
I’m not a big quote guy, but one that really really helped me during a period of deep self-doubt was was this Teddy Roosevelt line:
“comparison is the thief of joy.”
Thanks for the kind words.
Hello! Do you have any advice for photographers who want to photograph for a living?
Shoot everyday. Look at photos you like and photos you don’t like and figure out why. Reach out to clients you want to work for with reasons why you and your work can help them. Know yourself, know your worth.
10 pts if you can spot the Drake lyric.
Is there anything you know now that you wish you were told when you were younger?
Be patient. Take your time. Enjoy the ride.
Do you scan your films yourself or have it done at a lab?
A mix. If I’m strapped for time I’ll have it done.
Cloud cover.
