Buddy, bro, buddy || Benji & Yoa
âJust one!â Yoa exclaimed, more out of relief than surprise. She was glad he hadnât had a hard day, fighting only one Knight. She wondered if he had won. âDid you kill the Knight?â she asked. She hated seeing lives lost, killing other soldiers had taken a while to get used to. When it happened a life was wasted, but out here it was kill or be killed, and she had rather they killed people, than the other way around.Â
âOr maybe theyâre around, but staying back and spying on us? At least you killed one of them, so they know who theyâre dealing with!â She said, inviting his arm around her. It was good being so close to him, knowing he was real, knowing he was there. There was no one else she wanted to spend that cold time after a battle with. They were headed for the campfire, but when there were just a few tent strings between them and their spot, Benji moved his arm and guided her in a different direction. She giggled at him.Â
âA detour, well sir, I must deny, my caretaker will be very worried if I stay away for too long, but you are most charming, and I dare not to say no,â she said dramatically as she allowed Benji to take her along.Â
âMy lady fairest, how pure your heart must be to trust me so - see? I can do that, too, your stories did have some impact! Morale bounces off me, but at least I can play-treat you like a proper madame.â, Benji played around, bowing for her, dramatically twirling his hand thewhile.
âYeah, in the end I managed to trap her leg, but I had to dig deep to find something that was solid enough for me not to want to throw a tantrum.â, Benji admitted and sneered. âOf course, Iâll tell the official story as becoming master of the mud. Gotta teach Torque Iâm right on his feet!â, he added and grinned his cheeky smile at Yoa again.
It had really gotten dark, and the irony smell of blood hinted at where they still were, no matter how much Benji distracted himself with his best friend. It was so weird, how vast and endless the night sky seemed to shine, out here in the fields, as if it was all a romantic getaway or a self-finding journey. Benjiâs eyebrows furrowed and he looked back to the ground in disgust and anger, but Yoaâs warmth on his side reminded him to relax again.
âOr you could make up another epic tale, your camp fire ones always seem to be the best.â, he caught himself again, grinning.
