Svartifoss
This beautiful and unusual waterfall is found in Vatnajƶkull National Park in Iceland. It is dominated by black, hanging hexagonal columns that formed when basaltic magma cooled slowly. The striking black colour of the columns against the lush green of the surrounding flora gives the translated name Black Falls. The base is noteworthy for the heap of sharp pieces of column that break away faster than the water erodes the edges.
