The Back of Beyond
Those who follow our personal blogs (aimeevictoriahawkins and hellokirsty) will know that we spent some time together on the other side of the world. Since then we have spent months trying to create a sum of what we experienced whilst travelling the south island of New Zealand, trying to find words is impossible when you are engulfed by feeling.
New Zealand was one of the most inspirational places, it was fierce and unforgiving and for once I felt within it's organic architecture I could be swallowed whole... yet standing at the centre of it surrounding myself completely. After time we thought a lot about how we could bound our feelings together and this has created The Back of Beyond a colour zine of 48 pages. It tells stories through interviews with those we met; nomadic spirits, powerful women, curious souls. It answers some questions we had whilst travelling New Zealand and celebrates what we found, what we created and the experiences we took from that small island.
It has challenged us with questions... What is more important solitude or company, place or people?
