you cannot put a scene in your game where my two partners get mad at me for not telling them about each other earlier when you did not mechanically give me the option to tell them about each other until this scene

cannot stress enough that this specific post is about corruption of champions, a game where the goal is to have sex with everyone. and they STILL have scenes where it's like "ermmmm wtf!? who is this!?" it's so dire out here.

I’m reading this book about the changing arctic and the author stayed with the Nunamiut people of inland alaska for a while and talked to this high school kid who was like “ugh I hate going to school in the spring I wish I was hunting caribou” and I thought that was charming. you often hear about people who are devoted to preserving their traditional culture and knowledge but it’s rare to hear about someone who’s invested in the old ways out of pure teenage selfishness. school is lame and hunting caribou is awesome

Having played lots of souls games and watched lots of souls lore videos and having tried to make lots of souls lore videos I have to say the best way to learn the lore is to--and you may not like this one but stay with me--play the games

For some people, I get that the games are hard and mean and you just wanna learn the story (which is all very interesting in its own right) without dealing with a game format that doesn't bring you joy. But I gotta say that the process of gradually building up a picture of the world and its narrative is just as thrilling as your character's slow path to power. There's something exciting about the process of following the trail of breadcrumbs the game gives you, like you're an active participant in building your own story interpretation--which makes it feel especially impactful because it feels unique to you.

And it should feel like you're participating in building the story. Cause it's a video game.
