WARNING:Talks a lot about Edwins death
It was weird being around the Hoovers,
Dwayne usually tries to keep you as far away as possible..but here you were in between the boy with selective mutism and black hair, and then his step-grandfather the women loving heroine sniffer. You're on this trip of course to support the girl that you have accepted as a sister, but also the mute boy next to you begged on paper for you to join saying that you would keep him sane during this time....
You would've have never thought that Edwin's death would happen, but Richard banging on everyones doors after Olive told him that his father wasn't waking up made you feel like you should've expected this, his time was coming and he knew it seeing as he admitted it the day before...
You sat with Dwayne in the back of the Volkswagen holding hands as his step-father drove behind the very ambulance holding Edwins body.
the ride was not to long only a short way until you guys ended up in the emergency room...
You sat next to Sheryl holding her hand as she silently cried over her father-in-law
Soon standing up so Olive and Dwayne could sit next to her as she told them that she loved them very much as did Edwin, and that everything will be okay.
A doctor came out and soon announced that Edwin had passed in his sleep due to his addiction
You gripped Dwaynes arm and rubbed Richard's back...this surely hurt everyone
After some events and getting yelled at you stood in the same room as Edwins body standing next to the two awkward black haired men Frank, and Dwayne
Sheryl told Olive that she would have to do 'Little Miss Sunshine' next year
Richard told her no and that Edwin would love to see Olive do the pageant
You knew that it would take several hours for the paper work to be filled out and that you couldn't leave the body, you were confused.
Richard then threw Dwayne the keys and explained his (very illegal) plan

It was a great plan you stand outside pretending that they were having their final goodbyes as a family and Olive was talking to you pretending that she didn't know what was going on since she was seven...
Next thing you know you Sheryl and Olive were out the door helping Frank and Dwayne

Stuffing Edwin in the trunk
And you were off again you and Dwayne with more room, your head was on his shoulder as he looked through the window an arm brought up to play with your hair
You were drawing on a page in his notebook, doodling little hearts and 'I love you's' for him to look back on.
You were alerted as you jolted because a car cut infront of yours, Richard hit the horn...it wouldn't stop it kept making noise even without his hand on the wheel.
You heard another siren as Richard was getting pulled over.
You and Dwayne holding hands as you sat as still as ever so you don't look suspicious
Soon later Richard was up against the car as the cop opened the back
"Fuck" you muttered under your breath causing Dwayne to look at you slightly

The Cop and Richard talked
Soon again Richard got back in the car Sheryl asked what happened and Richard frose and said "I'll tell you when I regain consciousness"
About an hour later you were laying down half way reading Dwaynes book as he did an eye test with Olive
You looked up as he frantically grabbed his notebook and pen, scribbling a 'what?'
Olives head was in her hands looking sad,
Frank's face held pitty as he hesitated
"You can't fly jets if your colorblind"
You sat up
Dwaynes face turned red as he started hitting the walls and roof of the car then gripping and viciously shaking Frank and Olives seat..
They started yelling telling Richard to pull over
You spaced out
'This was Dwaynes dream, everything he wanted why..why him...'
You stopped Dwayne from grabbing the door and jumping out of the moving car, at last Richard pulled to a stop on the side of the road, Dwayne rushing past you looking like he was gonna
explode he ran down the hill that the road was on Screaming/crying out an elongated "FUuuuuCKKKK!"
He fell to his knees yelling out another fuck
You didn't know what to do you and Sheryl made your way don't the hill to try and talk to him

As you went infront of him and held his shaking figure in your chest
Sheryl started with a " Dwayne...? Dwayne, honey, I'm sorry. Dwayne, come on. We have to go.
"I'm not going" Dwayne mumbled.
"Dwayne" she tried again.
"I said "I'm not" okay? I don't care, I'm not getting on that bus again." Dwayne declared
"I dont care I'm not getting on that stupid bus again" Dwayne Muttered
Sheryl broke out a " Dwayne for better and worse were your family"
Dwayne got out of your grasp standing up and pointing at her yelling a "NO, YOURE NOT MY FAMILY I HATE YOU FUCKING PEOPLE
I HATE YOU
DIVORCE, BANKRUPT, SUICIDE, YOUR FUCKING LOSERS, YOU ARE LOSERS".. he muttered out the second loser.
Sheryl whispers out a "Dwayne"..
beginning to cry again Dwayne. Musters out a "please just leave me here, Mom. Okay? Please, please. Please just leave US here"
He sat back down grasping you putting his face in your neck.
Sheryl went back up the hill and talked to the others you were way to far to hear.
You looked down at the shaking boy in your arms and peppered many kisses across his head
Muttering out 'I love you's' and 'I'm sorry's'
He kissed your shoulder soon after holding you tighter.
You heard walking from infront of you looking up you saw Olive she crouched down putting her arm around one of Dwaynes shoulders her head on the other.
You all sat there for a bit before Dwayne started moving and let out a very faint "okay" ..... moving his head.."let's go"
You three stood up
With you and Olive infront of Dwayne you made your ways up the hill the steeper it got Dwayne put his hands up behind yours and Olives backs
Eventually picking Olive up so she dosent struggle.
Setting her down he apologized "I'm sorry about what I said, I was upset and shouldn't have said that"
Everybody forgave him whilst Frank had a big smile.
You were back on the road....Again
Dwaynes head on your lap so that he could lay down , you playing with his hair as he still looked very stressed.
He stared at you putting a hand on your cheek. "I'm so sorry" he said
You smiled "be sorry for nothing you have a right to be upset"
He slightly smiled
'You loved his voice, it was your first time hearing it, you had met and started dating him after he started his vow of silence.
Your very sad for him he's been through so much he deserved to have his dream come true.'
You came out out of your thoughts as he raised his head to place a soft kiss to your lips
You were shocked he usually dosent like doing this infront of his family
You broke apart and stared at each other
Unbeknownst to you and the now speaking boy
Frank was watching yall with a happy smile on his face...
Dwayne took a short nap as you played with his hair an took in his features, He was soon awakened by you telling him that you be at the Pageant soon
After seeing the building everyone realized that Richard got off on the wrong exit but he found a way driving on the pavement meant for walking, entering a parking ground without paying, and driving across the grass.
Everyone got out and ran, the door of the car came off without anyone realizing
You stayed with Dwayne who was currently walking with his head down.
When you and Dwayne got inside Richard was on his knees begging a lady to put Olive in the pageant soon later the man next to her did.
You kissed Dwaynes cheek as you went to follow his step-dad and he went to follow his uncle
You and Richard sat in the audience waiting for the show to start.
Frank and Dwayne were having their much deserved bonding moment
Sheryl and Olive were in the dressing room getting ready.
Soon the pageant started Richard looked very confused..as soon as the girls showed you realized how fucked this was.
The talent show started when Dwayne and Frank
came in grabbing you an immediately leaving,
All of you wearing looks of horror.
Dwayne told you and Frank that he was going to the dressing rooms, you decided to sit with Frank remembering that the doctor said he can't be alone..it was nice..
Richard and Dwayne came rushing out with looks of pitty along with Sheryl
You and Frank ran after them to go sit in your seats as Olive went on..
You 100% did not expect her to dance to "super freak" but it was Edwin who taught her everything what did you expect..
Children started leaving and you and Frank stood up clapping to the beat
The whole family soon after...
The same lady Richard was on his knees begging for came over you didn't hear what she said before she ran off.
The way too spray tanned host started chasing Olive around the stage Richard soon went to stop him Frank and Dwayne right after him , next thing you know Richard was dancing with Olive. Frank next, then Dwayne..you an Sheryl held hands as you ran up on the stage dancing like crazy with the rest, you soon ended up in Dwaynes arms and he started spinning you around...it was all worth it to hear the Hoovers be happy
You were in the police station, there were only five chairs so you sat on the ground in between Dwaynes legs despite his arguing about you sitting in the chair ...
An Officer finally came out to tell you guys that you could leave as long as Olive never entered a pageant In the state of California again
Which worked out well seeing as you all lived in Albuquerque New Mexico....
You all left with smiles on your faces, despite the car breaking down, Edwins death, Dwayne finding out he's colorblind, and Olive not being able to enter a Pageant In California agian..it went well, you became close with your boyfriend family as well as them finally getting along, you get to hear Dwayne now...no more writing the 'I love you's'.....and now saying them
I was walking through the mall and I headed into a Barnes & Noble, and Barack Obama was for some reason signing books there so I walked up, like ???? He wrote a book? Some biography?? When I got up to the desk, all the books were just lizards, and Obama replied to my inquires with a simple, “They may have no names, but there’s an identity to be acknowledged,” and he smiled as he signed another lizard and then there was something about a surprise dragon and then I woke up.
