My honest take about the Thing™ is that conservatives actually aren't going to think you're a better person by saying "no one deserves to be shot"

They're not. They'll say they do, but in three days you're going to be another blue haired leftist trying to take their guns (even if you're not).

If you actually feel good that a bad person is no longer spreading hate, that's ok.

It's also equally ok (and probably better for your mental health) if you do take the stance that no one deserves to be shot.
