That was partially hyperbole, I knew Marika from the intro cutscene. But yeah I did not know who Radagon was that first playthrough, I didnt find that wise turtle until after. I also definitely didnt talk to the Dung Eater at all, I'm pretty sure someone says "Don't talk to him" so I said "Ok."

I am having a laugh at myself here, but I do kind of feel that From Soft makes it pretty easy to miss the story. All the snippets of cryptic NPC dialogue and stuff have to be arranged internally to get the whole picture. Its good, I think its cool that the game rewards you for paying attention. I just wasn't, and so I've accepted that game is full of little mysteries I'll never know til years later.

turns out they climb trees too. Like regularly. they tend to do it a lot less once they reach certain sizes, but like several crocodilian species turn out to have a whole development period where they spend a lot of time in trees, and we just never knew that until like 2014 because, understandably, nobody who was studying them thought “i wonder if I should look for a bunch of crocodiles up in the trees”
