Genuinely i feel like the people that are mad that susie’s demeanor ‘changed too quickly’ in chapter 1 of deltarune after befriending lancer and the rest of the fun gang and the people that are mad that Asgore ‘lost all his menace/aura’ after his fight and ‘became’ a softie/goofball just dont get the idea of a character intentionally creating a facade in order to hide their own genuine feelings.

like yes i would agree with these critiques if susie and asgore’s behavior was them being their genuine selves but its very obvious in both scenarios that these are constructed personas. Susie acts aggressive and mean so that she doesn’t have to feel the sting of rejection. Asgore is stoic and quiet while fighting you so that he doesn’t actually have to acknowledge what he’s doing, because he doesn’t want to do this either.
