The Beginnings of a Novice Cosplayer

Hello all!~ Name's Rin. This blog is for my past cosplays, future cosplays WsIP and so on. I'm currently posting all of my past cosplays, so please bear with me as I adjust everything and get better at creating my blog set up. Fujioka Haruhi Otakon 2008

I chopped off all my hair that summer, so it worked out. My friend Stacey went at my Tamaki (which is funny since I call her Ohime-same and she calls me Oji-sama XD) and Ozzie as Kyoya and my little brother as Honey :3 I no longer fit into this cosplay either and that makes me sad XD But it was fun! I will totally cosplay from this anime again ^______^

Gothic Lolita Sakura Matsuri in Washington, D.C., 2008

This was one of the Gothic Lolita dresses I bought in Japan (unfortunately, the overdress broke - the zipper caught and it no longer fit me anyhow - so this is sadly never going to make a come back). I wore it to the Cherry Blossom Festival they have in D.C. every year (luckily, I had a train pass because the parental units worked for Amtrak and thus I did not have to pay for travel costs). The bear's dress was actually made by my friend, Ozzie (she's the one in the kimono <3), and she let me borrow her Loli Bear for the day (she'd made him for a school project, and HE'S AWESOME. I kinda want one now. I also borrowed her headband, which I actually really liked. If I had it my way, I'd be in Loli all the time (but I'm a college student...so, that dream's kinda out the window, lol...FOR NOW *insert [maniacal?] laughter here*)

Himemiya Anthy YuriCon 2007

So, YuriCon was in my area THE DAY AFTER I TURNED EIGHTEEN. So, I went with a friend whose birthday was actually a day before mine. Not many people were cosplaying there; it was actually a rather stressful trip. I was more irritated because my friend didn't get her costume in time and I was cosplaying as a character I didn't identify with and from an anime of which I had not finished (I admittedly do not like Utena all that much...and I had been talked into the cosplay so we could be a pair, but...yeah). So, this will be the last of this cosplay.

Tifa Lockheart from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (Movie) Otakon 2007

I dyed and cut my hair for this one; which meant no wigs. WHOO. Also, I was able to get rid of my glasses that year. After ridic amounts of searching, I also found the epic earrings that go with that cosplay. So that was nice too ^_^ Apparently, the zipper broke on the shorts; but because the apron-like thing covered it, I wasn't too worried. I WOULD DEFINITELY COSPLAY HER AGAIN <3

Demyx from Kingdom Heart II Otakon 2007

This was the first time I ever attempted styling a wig. I thought it turned out pretty well for a first-timer XD (I never got around to trimming it a bit to the proper length). One of my first group cosplays. That's actually my little brother as Final Form Sora *_* He was awesome. He had SO MANY FANGIRLS HOMG. It was ridiculous. But I mean...  He looked like that. It was kinda epic.

My friend was Xemnas and we actually convinced my FATHER to be Auron (one of his many strange "I'mmabeawesomeforasecond" bouts; which was fine for when it happened). It was funny because they already had a gray spot in the same area on their hair XD

Next time, I'll probably cosplay someone else; I would prefer Roxas, honestly.

Sailor Lead Crow Otakon 2007

I don't think I'll ever cosplay her again, either >.<; My friend wanted to go as Aluminum Siren and Lead Crow, so we went together. A few things bothered me about this costume: 1. The boots would never zip up my legs properly without cutting off circulation (hence the unzippered boots in the picture) and even though we TRIED to stretch them, it would not stretch to where we'd hoped XD 2. Exposure of the tummy - there's a reason why my body is angled that way (albeit, it wasn't on purpose) - I wasn't as comfortable with it as I thought I'd be. 3. The wig. It was SO LONG that I was going nutters trying to keep it tame all day. Also why it looks a mess in the picture. 4. I had forgotten the tiara in the car and then was irritated with my inaccuracy. 5. My friend had ordered a full-body, "shaping", body suit; but it was too late for me to invest in one in time for the con, so those are shorts XD And that bothered me too *headdesk*

I think I spent the most money on this costume ^^;;;;;;

Freya from Chobits Anime Boston 2006

This was my first con outside of Otakon and my friend and I went as Elda and Freya (once again, I failed at life and could not get contacts). I DID FINALLY HAVE A WIG, HOWEVER. Which was a nice change. I don't think I'll ever cosplay from Chobits again; I feel like I don't fit well with the characters; but it was fun when I did it ^_^

Yaten Kou (Three Lights Performance Suit) from Sailor Moon Stars Otakon 2006

As you can see, I sorely lacked a wig and access to contacts that year ^^;;; Hopefully, I can re-cosplay as Yaten (I have his school uniform top but I've never worn it; I still need pants for it too) and do him a little more justice. The best thing about this costume, though? I got it ALL from Goodwill. And I still wear the shirt and tie ^_^

Kinomoto Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura Otakon 2006

I didn't have my Kero plushie or wand with me for this - but here it is; I plan on doing a cosplay of Sakura again. Now that I have a full-sized wand and re-found my Kero plushie, I will be cosplaying as her again soon...YAY ^_^

Honda Tohru from Fruits Basket Otakon 2005 (several times for Japanese Club in high school as well)

I had this costume commissioned for me. Not really something too unknown; I wore it to my first convention. I have a better idea for the next time I cosplay as her, since it's so mainstream now - but it's a secret ^_~ Also, this picture/costume is almost seven years old xD Obviously taken on one of the days I was at school and not at the con >.>;
