I've been so generally mentally exhausted by everything recently that im stoked that im playing dolls with Kestrel and Riddler in my again, I love the situations they inflict on each other >:) you all need to be prepared. Chapter 2 is a very sexy romp.

GUYS IM SO HAPPY TO FINALLY SAY IVE FINISHED OUTLINING THE END OF CHAPTER 2 ALL THATS LEFT IS TO WRITE IT AGAIN (but good this time) AND FILL IN A MISSING TRANSITION SCENE AHHHHHHHHH PUSHING BUTTONS IS GETTING PROGRESS (and then i can work on finishing and polishing chapter 3 and then figure out what happens from there lets gooooo)

For real tho i wrote 1,250 somthing words tonight after a dry spell that last MONTHS, nay maybe even a year. Im proud of myself and am glad im enjoying writing again, even if it is probably mostly a stress outlet/escape im just glad it feels good :)

So... I found this and now it keeps coming to mind. You hear about "life-changing writing advice" all the time and usually its really not—but honestly this is it man.

I'm going to try it.

I love the lawyer metaphor, because whenever I see “John knew that...” in prose writing I immediately think “how?  How does he know it?”  Interrogate your witnesses.  Cross-examine them.  Make them explain their reasoning.  It pays dividends.

Something neuroscience-y that helps with prose: attention is selective. A character will not notice everything in a room. They will notice what matters to their goal, fear, desire, training, wound, or obsession. A jealous character notices hands. a hungry character notices food. A soldier notices exits. A lonely character notices pairs. Description becomes character when attention has a bias.

i think people get so used to their own creative work that they forget how amazing it is so i’m making this post as a reminder You are the only person capable of making art the exact way you make it. nobody else on earth can do that. there are always going to be those little habits and intricacies and details that simply cannot be replicated whether it’s in writing or painting or textiles and you make life all the better for it i love my friends’ art i love art from strangers im trying to love my own art I LOVE YOU!!!
