years ago i stopped using google as my search engine and the only times i go back to it are to see exactly what happens when a company decides to ruin their flagship product for the sake of profit

i've been phasing the phrase 'google it' out of my vocabulary and going back to 'look it up'. fuck you youve lost your generic trademark privileges

#i have the opposite mindset to OP #i still use 'google' to mean 'internet search' and i haven't used google in years #i'd to think there's google marketing execs being physically harmed every time i say 'google' when i mean 'duckduckgo' or 'startpage'#unfortunately i think the term 'google' will be here to stay #like how in the uk they still (i believe) say 'hoover' to mean 'vacuum' even though the hoover company doesn't really exist there anymore #also unfortunately the suggestions for duckduckgo in the tags all sound clunky
