So I had a heated rivalry thought. So we all agree that Shane is autistic and because typically when a child is autistic someone else in the family is also autistic. So anyways all this to say The Hollander's are an autistic family.
And it occurred to me today that because they're all autistic they probably do things that they consider normal that a neurotypical person in this case Ilya would be utterly confused by. So without further delay I present my head cannons for the Hollander household is autistic as fuck.
Yuna announcing that she's going to use the blender David going to get three pairs of headphones Shane reaching out for his absent-mindedly while sitting next to Iyla who is confused as to why the blender requires headphones.
One of every two blankets in that house is weighted.
They have many fidgets, ( they limit the bright colors when they can) David will often offer one to Shane while they're watching TV (And if I said David and Yuna's wedding rings were custom made fidget rings then what?)
SAFE FOODS FOR DINNER or like whenever. Family meetings when the recipe of a safe food is changed have 100% happened.
Non verbal time ( this one freaks Ilya out a lot at first, eventually someone explains and he's happy to be there)
The TV/radio volume buttons have never seen an uneven number in their lives.
Special interest yap sessions.
But also conversation scripting, typically used when talking to family members outside the home. Specifically David he struggles to talk to people that are not Yuna or Shane unless he has time to script something
Overstimulated/underestimated routine ( whoever notices it has to tell the other person the one not experiencing it obviously) BUT the times in which it happens to all of them at similar times oh boy.
The floors of that house are heated.
