Oh man the war is finally over yes this sentence is more like the word game over Saying the game is over is very easy, but saying the war is over costs a lot of lives, homes, days and loved ones.

I am very happy that I no longer hear the sound of explosions and I did not see the planes flying over my head to bomb my house. I was literally living in a game, a game of killing and destruction, but it was realistic and was broadcast around the earth in the highest quality. I lost my loved ones, my life and my home. These photos in this post were taken today from above the rubble of my house.

uhhh it's bad

If you saw my last post you know I was in relatively dire straits, but that I was kind of hopeful I could get through it all with a little extra help and keeping to my meds etc.

Unfortunately what happened was the last week of August, while I was already prepping to relieve my worst memories, all our fire alarms screeched me awake. I leapt out of bed to grab the important documents and living beings I cared about to stand outside while I tried to Accept that I might end up losing everything we owned along with everything I've already lost in the last year. Thankfully that didn't happen (a lot of smoke from next door though, thanks guys) but it did set off KILLER PTSD flashbacks and a Total Emotional Meltdown that I'm still recovering from and had to ping my GP about. I physically couldn't stand up once it was over.

All this to say something that I find mortifying, but, well.

I...can't afford pads. Like. Sanitary pads. I bought a pack because I don't have any, but that single purchase has pushed me over into not being able to afford my bills. 🥴

I did the math, I can keep us ticking over for two months if I scrounged together about £700 from cutting back on food shopping and, well, begging strangers on the internet to help me. But that's a nuts goal.

I have basically no other recourse though if I want to buy the time possible to set up the extra govt help I need and take into account my fragile physical and mental health.

Remember "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" ? I feel like there's been a distancing from the "reduce" and "reuse" part and a favoritism towards "recycle" by corporate American.

Capitalism can still thrive with recycling in the mix. You buy Plastic Thing 1, throw it away after one use, and they take that and recycle it into Plastic Thing 2 and sell it back to you. All while continuing to harm the environment.

Reusing puts a damper on things. They can't sell you Plastic Thing 2 when you're still using Plastic Thing 1. Plastic forks, for example- there is literally no reason why you can't reuse plastic forks more than once (aside from maybe microplastics, but it's too late for that)

Reducing is the one everyone wants to ignore. Just don't buy Plastic Thing 1. You don't need Plastic Thing 1. Pick up a set of metal forks and use those for years. Convenience is killing the planet

Nader Al-Anqar ( @abdalsalam2000 ) is a Palestinian teenager trying to raise money for his family of seven (parents, brothers, sister-in-law, niece, and nephew) to escape the genocide in Gaza, and for his father to get treatment for cancer.

He's been active on tumblr for a long while now, and was one of the first to have their campaigns vetted: #4 on the gazavetters list!

He recently reached his initial goal, €50,000, but was forced to extend the goal to €80,000 because they are waiting for the crossings to open in order to travel to safety and the cost of food in Gaza is now so expensive.
