Q) What is a reverse bang?
A) A reverse bang is a fanfic/fanart challenge similar to a big bang, but - reverse!
Essentially, it's a collaborative challenge for artists and writers. In a big bang, writers anonymously submit summaries of fic they wish to write, which are then claimed by artists. The writer-artist pair then work together on the project, with the writer writing their fic and the artist drawing a piece based on it.
In a reverse bang, the opposite is true; artists anonymously pitch a sketch related to the theme of the bang and writers write a piece based on the artwork. The idea is to collaborate and work together with your paired partner throughout the creation period.
As creators work, there will be multiple check-ins to see your progress. At the end of this creation period, both works will be posted on the same day!
Q) What is the theme for Daydreaming About Us?
A) Daydreaming About Us is a bang focused on alternate universe interpretations of Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugou in a relationship, specifically with a fluffy tone. Pitches set in canonverse, or works with a lot of angst, do not fit the theme and may be rejected. As this is a non-dynamic-specific event, any relationship dynamic may be presented.
Q) What is an "alternate universe" in this context?
A) For the purposes of this bang, an AU is a story in which our main duo are placed in a different setting or circumstances than the canon setting. Think something like the various sketches with unique costumes Horikoshi has released in popularity poll art or on twitter, such as the fantasy au.
While a fix-it fic may technically be an AU, as it differs from canon, it isn't in the spirit of the bang. We would like to see a lot of variety in universe, too, so get creative with it!
Q) What do you mean by "fluffy" in this context?
A) Fluff generally refers to happy, feel-good types of art and fic. It's the diametric opposition to angst or whump. We're wanting to see relatively light-hearted works. Think of it as a joyful celebration of the end of the series and the journey we've taken to get here!
Q) What do you mean by relationship dynamic?
A) To put it bluntly, it's who tops. Anything beyond that is conjecture, and we would like to avoid discourse within the event to protect the sanity and wellbeing of all participants.
Within the server, bkdk and ktdk may be used interchangeably for top Bakugou/bottom Deku, dkbk and izkt may be used for top Deku/bottom Bakugou, and bkdkbk represents an ambiguous or switch dynamic. There are separate role-locked NSFW channels for each dynamic, and all artists will be asked to specify their preferred dynamics with their pitch (even if the preference is "no preference.")
Q) What is the minimum wordcount for fic produced for the bang?
A) In an effort to be as inclusive as possible - we know there are many people participating concurrently in other events - the minimum wordcount for fic is set at only 2000 words.
Q) It's an 18+ event; does that mean that it's all NSFW?
A) No, NSFW is completely optional! Keeping the server and event 18+ just makes moderating a bit easier. We very much welcome SFW creators and works :)
