to be clear: i don’t care if i drive this blog into the ground and “ruin my aesthetic” by continuing to center queer and nonwhite faces, voices, narratives, causes, and dreams. i will do it and i’ll do it gladly.

its really funny to me that “being queer makes you unlovable” is such a common sentiment, both to hear from cruel or well meaning straight people and to internalize as a queer person, sometimes very painfully, sometimes for years. well heres something about how i love myself and how i love my unlovable friends
I like analog watches and clocks because they turn the time of day into a physical thing in space instead of a bunch of numbers you need to do math about.
Also I don't have the problem of thinking "I need to start this task at a number that ends in 5" because I can see visually that oh it's around the time I should be doing this. Cool. I'll do it.
With digital clocks I need to do mental math to know how long it's gonna be till the next thing (gross) and it's all a vague intellectual concept. With an analog clock I can just feel and know the time. I only have to translate the exact time over to numbers and words if someone notices I have a watch on and asks me what the time is.
If you use an analog clock long enough you just know what time it is by looking at it. I've been using an analog watch since high school and I can read it just as fast as a digital clock. It's not really any more or less intuitive than a digital clock, tbh. It's just a thing you learn how to read like anything else.

Day 9/100 of Productivity
I keep swinging between feeling very on top of everything and feeling wildly unprepared. I'm sure the coffee jitters don't help.
Random writing tips that my history professor just told during class that are actually helpful
Download all your sources or print them so you can turn off your wifi
Give your phone to someone
Just. WRITE. Writing is analysing, you’ll get more ideas as you write. It doesn’t need to be perfect, for now you can just blurt out words and ideas randomly. You can fix it later.
Create a skeleton/structure before writing.
Stop before you get exhausted. It’s best to stop writing when you still have some energy and inspiration left, this will also motivate you to get started again next time.
Make a to do list
Work in bite sizes. Even if it’s not much, as long as you put some ideas on paper or do some editing.
Simple language =/= boring language, simple language = clear language.
Own your words. If they are not your words, state this clearly in the text, not just in the footnotes.
STOP BEFORE YOU GET EXHAUSTED. Listing it again because it’s easily one of the best tips a teacher has ever given me.
