Recipe for Cold-Brewed Coffee

Time:

5 minutes, plus 12 to 24 hours’ resting

Ingredients:

120g ground coffee (medium-coarse grind is best)

1800mL water

Milk or dairy substitute (optional)

Tools:

Container capable of holding 2 liters

Large tea bags*

Instructions:

Put coffee grounds in bags and place in container*

Add water

Let rest at room temperature overnight or 12-24 hours; once brewed, keep it refrigerated

Mix equal parts coffee concentrate and water

If desired, add milk or dairy substitute

* Alternately, you can just stir the grounds and water together, then strain it before drinking. I find using jumbo tea bags makes the clean up easier.

Yield:

About one week’s worth of coffee for me

Note: If you want to scale up or scale down this recipe, the important thing to remember is that you want a grounds-to-water ratio of 1:15.

This is absolutely delightful, and would have been the bonsai related apex of my year if it weren’t for the fact that earlier today, while googling what to do about my very very strong baby ficus boy literally cracking his pot into four pieces overnight with the sheer vigor of his roots, I discovered another actively hilarious bonsai tree.

So apparently Tumblr ate my original post about this but:

A couple weeks ago I’m going to get lunch and as I open the fridge, my mother attempts to communicate to me that any chicken currently in the fridge is ok for people to eat, because the chicken that was intended for the dog to eat has been used up.

What she actually says is, “That’s human chicken.”

After taking a minute to process all horrible implications of the phrase “human chicken”, I decide to go a different route and hold the tupperware of chicken out to my sister, saying, “Behold, a man!”

This was evidently the wrong choice, as it meant I had to explain to my parents who Diogenes was, thereby cementing the incident in their minds and leading to me, just now, opening the fridge to see the following incredibly cursed image:
