Remember the John Silver Appreciation Week starts on Sunday!
So, there will be a lot of John Silver here next week. I will be participating in the meme, but also I will be posting more Silver imagines and drabbles than usual as well.
Back to normal the week after that though :D
To find out more about it, here’s the post- http://blacksailsimagines.tumblr.com/post/118615765171/john-silver-appreciation-week
Just a reminder that we’ll be using the tag #jsaw15 for it :)

(Really short one I’m afraid! Haven’t had much time for writing lately, but will hopefully get back to normal soon.)

“Hey, Billy,” you call, finally finding him on the deck after searching for ages. It wasn’t even his turn for the night watch, and yet there he was, keeping an eye over everything.
He turns to face you, his muscled frame outlined by the streams of moonlight.
“I have a problem.”
His brows lift. “What problem?”
“My hammock, it kinda… broke.”
“What?” he asks with a light laugh.
You roll your eyes. “Yes, I know, haha, very funny.” It hadn’t been funny at all for you, your arms and legs flailing about in the netting of your hammock whilst the others couldn’t move to help you because they were laughing so hard. “I was thinking that maybe I could share yours, just for tonight.”
You hope the dark is enough to hide the blush on your cheeks.
“But-“
You cut him off. “Thank you!” you say, hitting him on the arm, which is solid and makes you jolt at the impact. “I’ll get the blankets sorted, see you soon bunkmate.” With a final smile you stride away before he can protest, holding back the laugh at the utter disbelief on his face.

With the sun blazing hotter than a furnace that day, you decide to cut your usual morning walk short. Also, the tons of sweat-stained and ogling pirates that infest the tavern below doesn’t exactly make you inclined to stay out of the privacy of your office.
Eleanor had entrusted you to keep the tavern’s books up together, and you weren’t going to disappoint, even if she was gone. If you ever wanted to get off this island then building up your skills was the only way of doing that. Thankfully, you were already getting quite a name as the person to go to when someone needed accounts or books sorted.
Yanking open the door to your office, you are about to let out a sigh of relief until your eyes land on someone in your chair.
The sigh of relief turns to one of exasperation.
“Captain Vane,” you say, closing the door and walking into the deep shade of your office. Though it doesn’t help to cool you, your skin prickling with heat at the Captain’s proximity. It wasn’t exactly a very spacious office, after all. “What can I do for you?”
“Your manners must wear thin being in a place like this,” he says, leaning back in your chair and making it creak.
“My manners are the thing that separates me from people like-“ You cut yourself off, snapping your lips tightly shut before blabbing further.
“People like me,” he finishes.
You glance at him, a smile creeping onto his face; one that you’re unsure should be making your heart race as it was. Frowning, you quickly turn away, shuffling with a pile of neatly stacked papers on the shelf behind you.
“I’ve come to make you an offer.”
His words make your brows rise, and you turn to look at him. He chucks a leather pouch onto the desk and it lands with a heavy thud, followed by the distinctive jingling of coins.
You stare at it for a long moment, then turn your narrowed gaze to him. “You want me to do your ship’s books?”
He chuckles. “I want you to be my quartermaster.”
You blurt out a laugh, unable to hold it back at the ridiculousness of the offer. “You what?”
His lips tighten, obviously not expecting your reaction. With careful, steady movements he rises from the chair and steps closer to you. Your instinct is to retreat, but your feet freeze in place, and the sound of the blood coursing around your body pounds inside your head.
“Everyone knows you want to get out of Nassau,” he gestures to the pouch, “I’m giving you that chance.”
You fold your arms, half to keep your fingers from fidgeting and half to try and keep a gap between you and him. “And this has nothing to do with screwing Eleanor over?”
His eyes widen, a smirk forming that sends your stomach fluttering. For all your bluster, you can’t help the draw you feel towards him, and that just makes you more annoyed!
He sits down in the chair once again, leaning forwards on the desk, his eyes remaining on you.
He doesn’t answer the question.
For a long while, you both stay in silence, but the pouch draws your attention. The freedom getting off of Nassau would bring, even just a while, is something you can’t resist.
You step forwards and grab the pouch, noting it’s much heavier than you thought. “You have yourself a new quartermaster,” you say with a smile. “Now get out of my chair.”
He does as you say, the smirk from before once again appearing on his face. You struggle to keep yourself standing as he keeps his gaze on you for a while longer, before brushing past you to leave.
As soon as he shuts the door, you sink into your chair, your legs weak and your mind racing with thoughts of what is to come.
Can you write about being Vane's new quatermaster?
Written and queued for later today. Hope you enjoy it :)
Thank you for the request!
Hey, just wondering. Will you do more Silver drabbles?
I will be doing more Silver drabbles, I was thinking of doing a bunch for the Silver Appreciation Week next week. Thought it would be a way of participating but keeping it themed to the imagines of the blog :D
So yeah, watch out next week for a whole load of Silver drabbles and imagines!
Hope you enjoy it! :)
omg your last vane drabble was reallyyyyy good! loved it
Thank you so much! I’m really glad you enjoyed it. Hadn’t written a Vane one in a while, and he’s such a fun character to do!
Watch Out Below.
Imagine falling from the rigging and Billy catching you.

“It ain’t safe!”
“It’ll be fine,” you call down to the older pirate twenty feet below you. Reaching forwards, you strain to just shift a little closer.
“What’s going on?” You hear Billy’s voice from below, the thought of him giving you a momentary distraction and making you almost lose your concentration. You shake your heated thoughts of him away and focus on the task of unhitching the stray bit of wood from the rigging.
“She thinks she can get the stuck wood out,” the other man grunts, the disbelief in his tone only making you more determined to succeed. You shuffle your feet along the rope a little further, one hand gripping the rigging, the other completely outstretched to the splinter of wood causing such troubles for the sails.
“It’s too dangerous,” Billy replies.
“I already told her that.”
You ignore the conversation as best you can, now tip toeing to reach just that bit further. Your fingertip skims the piece of wood but doesn’t budge. You let out an annoyed groan and try again to push it from its place.
“Good view for you though, eh, Billy?” the man says suddenly.
“What?” Billy replies, annoyance in his tone.
The man laughs. “I saw you the other night; couldn’t keep your eyes off of her.”
All thoughts of the piece of wood disappear, replaced by complete focus on Billy’s reply. It’s as though your heart stops beating just so as it’s silent enough for you to hear.
“I didn’t- It’s not like that…” he stumbles.
“It’s all right, lad, we all take a shine to someone. Don’t tell me you haven’t thought about it?”
Your body aches, still stretched into an awkward position across the rigging, but you don’t dare move and interrupt the conversation.
“Well, I suppose…”
His response makes your silent heart race, the surge of heat that courses through your body making your knees weaken.
“Oh, shit,” you mutter as your feet give in. The toes of your boots slip on the rope, and you don’t have the strength in one hand to keep you upright.
After a moment of unladylike fumbling, you fall completely away from the rigging.
You let out a shriek as you tumble towards the ship below. Squeezing your eyes shut, you brace for the pain of collision with the deck, a fleeting hope flashing through your mind that the worst you’ll get is a broken arm.
But when the impact does hit, its not painful at all, in fact it’s the complete opposite. There is a distinct, ‘oof’, from someone, and your eyes snap open to meet the bright blue ones of Billy’s.
It takes a while for the adrenaline to flood from your system, but when it does you realise your being held in his arms, the man having saved you from a very painful, and possibly fatal, landing.
Your gaze shoots to the ground and then back up to his face in shock.
“Uh, thanks,” you stutter, your voice hoarse.
He blinks a couple of times before giving you a quick, uncertain smile. “You’re welcome.”
Where his skin makes contact with yours it feels like its on fire, and it takes all your willpower not to grab his shirt and tug him down to kiss him. The temptation is overwhelming, especially after the near-death experience.
His hands grip you a little tighter, the tension in his body relaxing, as though sensing your thoughts.
“I think you can let her down now, lad.” At the sound of the voice, Billy seems to pull himself from some kind of trance.
“Right,” he says, and places you carefully on your feet. You almost topple again, and he curls an arm around your waist to keep you steady.
The man behind you chuckles, but you barely hear anything over the blood roaring inside your head as Billy keeps hold of you.
“Well, she got rid of the wood,” the man says.
“Yeah,” another pirate says close-by, “though I think she gave it Billy instead.”
A round of raucous laughter erupts around the ship, and your face burns a bright red.
“That’s enough,” Billy yells, letting his arm slip from around you.
The men listen to his command, eventually, after a little more giggling.
Billy clears his throat and turns back to face you. “Are you all right?”
You nod, unsure you can actually speak.
He offers a final small smile before moving away, though your stomach flutters when he glances at you over his shoulder once more before disappearing below deck, his gaze lingering longer than necessary.
