I’ve been watching Jisung new drama, The judge returnes , and it’s really interesting.
Then I thought what if something like this happened in TDJ?
For example, Gaon actually stabs Yohan and he dies, then Gaon realizes his mistake and lives in regret, and in the end he kills himself (because he’s so miserable that he won’t wait for anyone else to do it, he’ll do it himself).
Then he wakes up again in Yohan’s mansion after the explosion in the office and returns to that moment.
It would be interesting to see how he tries to fix things 😏
and how Yohan would find him suspicious… and extremely captivating.
Please, someone write something like this, or I’ll do it myself once I finish my current project, whenever that may be.
First watch: The Devil Judge, episodes 13-16 (finale)
@absolutebl recommended this series to me when I requested series that are a glorious mess, and was this ever! Thank you, @absolutebl!
The series is exciting. There are plot twists and red herrings galore. The ending is consistent with the rest of the series. I care about the characters, well, maybe not the evil ones, but the gray ones. And there sure is a lot of gray. So, glorious.
At the same time, some of the characters' decisions make no sense at all. So, mess.
Glorious wins out over mess. I loved it, even as I cringed at the copious violence.
For those who have to have an unequivocal happy ending, this isn't it. The mains pay a heavy price for their victories and losses.
From the start, I said that I was seeing bromance energy. I didn't always feel it in the middle, but I felt it once again at the end. The site of record, My Drama List, doesn't peg it as a bromance but I'd be shocked if I went to AO3 and didn't find a dozen KangKim stories. It really does have that energy.
The last four episodes do fill the role of last episodes: sending our mains to their darkest places where we can't be sure they'll make it out again.
Reveals following the jump
And some don't. Kim Ga-on loses Yun Su Heon to a killer after they've declared their love for one another. Jung Seon-Ah kills herself while citizen votes tick up toward an explosion.
Kim Ga-on gets picked to put the judiciary back together, but the leaders are looking to be just as problematic as the previous leaders.
Kang Yo-han is off to Switzerland with the goal of getting Elijah walking again.
There are plenty of holes with the ending:
How does Kim happen to be in the dream (more like nightmare) village in the right ward at just the right time with the viewfinderless video camera to get the president's incriminating statement?
How do they keep the Dike app running in the social media shutdown?
How does the explosives Kang planted stay powered?
How does Kang waltz into the government headquarters and out again without being caught?
But we're finally rooting for Kang and Kang comes out on top.
Dream Village: Gaon didn’t go there to film the President, but just what was happening there. The President and his crew dropping by just was cherry on the (shit) cake
App: it’s not necessarily hosted in Korea, so there’s no reason a power outage should have any effect on it. Cell towers have backup batteries
Explosives: they use batteries, not AC power—because of course Yohan and his crew would have anticipated the possibility of a power outage
Government headquarters? It’s the courthouse where the Live Court takes place. He can freely come and go. Everything was likely set up as it was being built, then he could take cake of any necessary adjustments as needed
As for bromance, I’d say this is as close to a same-sex romance as one’s likely to get on main Korean channels! Gaon tried hard to convince himself he romantically loved Suhyeon but if he did, he’d never have treated her that way, leaving her hanging for years. It’s a pretty classic representation of repressed sexuality. AO3 seems to agree with me—and Tumblr too, of the gahan tag is anything to go by 😆
Well, my friends, let me tell you that this is, I believe, the seventh week in a row that I’ve managed to keep up with weekly updates my GaHan fic .
This consistency has been incredibly motivating and enjoyable for me ,especially since I’m not the type of person who can usually stick to long-term goals.
But I’ve been very passionate about this project lately… and I’m sure the readers and commenters have played a huge part in that as well.
Of course, I’m thinking of taking a break sometime soon, but not yet — I still have so much I want to write.

Got struck by the urge to write some poly Yohan/Jinjoo/Gaon fic, with a side of POV outsider. For all the OT3 truthers out here.
