Spawn as a black man - Todd McFarlane

Early on in his career as a comic book artist, Todd McFarlane was tired of the stereotypical white male superhero. Spawn was his way of departing from this history of stereotypical superhero characterization while simultaneously making Spawn’s race a non-issue with his audience.
