Taurus: If Virgo and I were drowning, who would you save?
Capricorn: ...You two can’t swim?
Taurus: It’s a hypothetical question! Who would you save?
Capricorn: My time and effort.
Virgo/ Pisces axis be like… ✨🧜🏼♂️✨
OK WAIT SO IF POC GET STRICTER SENTENCES IN COURT… AND IF WOC ARE MORE AT RISK OF MISCARRIAGE AND GENERAL MALPRACTICE… AND IF SEX EDUCATION IS WORSE IN INNER CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS… AND IF RACIAL HOUSING DISCRIMINATION IS PRACTICED BY 85% OF REAL ESTATE AGENTS… AND IF SCHOOL DISTRICTS ARE FUNDED VIA PROPERTY TAXES WITHIN EACH DISTRICT… HOLD ON………. WAIT A MINUTE
The United States — ALL of it
Reminder that Guam, Puerto Rico, the Northern Marianas, American Samoa and the US Virgin Islands and DC don’t have actual representation in congress and only DC can vote for President even though over 5 million people live in these areas
They drill “no taxation without representation” into our heads like it’s why the country exists… and then omit the fact that allllllll of those people pay taxes and have no say in their government.
adhd gothic
- your alarm rings but you are too tired. you set an alarm for five minutes later and go back to sleep. when you wake again, it is light outside and the alarm never went off. it was set for five hours later. you could have sworn you set it to five minutes later.
- your clothes are organized in piles on the bedroom floor. occasionally a shirt moves from one pile to another. you do not remember moving it.
- your desk at work is organized but not. “i have a system” you tell yourself. you are worried someone will discover the truth. you must not let others know you are struggling. your desk at work is organized but not.
- you did not take your meds. your brain is static. you did take your meds. your brain is accelerated static. last week your meds worked well. are they working well today? did you remember to take them? did you even refill your prescription last month?
- your assignment is due in november. it is september. your assignment is not due soon. it is end of october, but your assignment is not due until november. it is november 15th. where is your assignment? you go to bed, it is now november 27th. why do you turn in work late?
- you go to work to make money. you know you make money because you are told you do. your bank account doesn’t change much. you spend more because you are told you make money. you haven’t looked at your bank account for a few weeks now. it makes you anxious.
- there was something you were supposed to do. you didn’t do it, and you disappointed someone. you do not know who. it will come to you eventually, perhaps.
- you trip over a half-knit scarf. one of the needles is missing. you tried to learn knitting a year ago and forgot about the scarf. how long has this been on the floor? where is the other needle? you do not remember how to knit.
- you find yourself growing bored and unconsciousness slips into your periphery. you throw yourself into your work. if you are busy you will not sleep. if you are bored you will sleep. fight the sleep as long as you can. you cannot sleep at night.
- you do not eat and you eat too much.
- your friends ask why you do not reply to their messages. it is overwhelming and you are so tired. you send too many messages at once and are filled with guilt. your friends keep texting you and you do not know why.
- your eyes blur when you read. you skim the words and do not retain. you skimmed this post and did not retain. you do not remember what the first bullet on this post was. you might not have read this last bullet, either. you will still tag the post as though you read it. you understand its essence, and that is okay.
Every damn one of these called me out and then just decked me right in the gut
I can drink 3 cups of coffee and go straight to sleep, this is just one example of what is fundamentaly wrong with me as a person
That’s a possible sign of ADHD, my dudes. :P One of the prevailing theories explaining ADHD is that it’s caused by a lack of certain neurotransmitters, specifically norepinephrine and serotonin. Everybody has a background level of these neurotransmitters, and when they see or do something novel or interesting, those neurotransmitters increase, and then decrease back down to normal levels. Because people with ADHD have less of these than they should, they are constantly looking for something new and interesting to give them that jolt back to normal levels. That’s why they’re so easily distracted and why they hyperfocus on things that interest them. Stimulant drugs, like caffeine, cause your brain to make more of those neurotransmitters. So while neurotypical people might get a buzz off caffeine, people with ADHD just get bumped up closer to normal levels, and so, if anything, feel calmer. That’s why they prescribe what are basically amphetamines as treatment for ADHD and why ADHD meds are so bad for people who don’t have ADHD.

Yup! At my job as a mental health counselor where we assess people, if we start detecting hints of what we think might be ADHD, it’s actually something my supervisor trained me to do, to just ask “So when that sort of thing happens, do you ever drink coffee or soda to calm down?” or “Does coffee actually help you wake up, or does it just not do anything?” because it’s such a commonly known fact about ADHD for people in the mental health field.
People are appalled when i tell them i drink coffee right before bed and don’t believe me in the slightest when i say that it calms me down
adhd culture is looking back dramatically from your doorway every time you go outside, scanning your house like a protagonist about to go on a life altering quest, just to make sure you didn’t forget anything (hint: you did)
and anyone who sees this gives you a very confused and concerned look
Neurotypical boredom, I assume: oh I’m bored that sucks
ADHD Boredom™: I have never done anything meaningful, in my life. I will never accomplish or enjoy anything for the rest of time.
If boredom doesn’t fill you with existential dread then you aren’t doing it right
