Some brightly coloured works I've done, just to mess around.
I love how high-impact it looks to do a mostly desaturated drawing and then add contrast with the brightest colour you can think of. When in doubt, I can always trust the handy colourful square as my background.
I drew these all the way back in summer, when I was working on studying comic-style inks. I was reading Who Killed Jimmy Olsen and Batman: A Death in the Family, and I just love how they can show form and texture so effortlessly, even without colour. I think I fear making my inks properly thick (on account of my old cartoony style in middle school). I see books filled with these really nice, harsh, black lines and dark shadows, and find myself unable to replicate them. I don't trust my hand well enough.
I should try drawing in this style again; it was helpful when I wasn't feeling too well after artfight. I've been trying to get back into drawing with a lot of structure, but since I haven't had the time to properly study, I just get frustrated and erase everything I start. Sometimes it's nice to go straight into lines, wrinkles, and textures without a plan. It gets me weird teeth art.
tooth guy, I know you're seeing this. feel free to tell me what I did wrong (particularly with the wolf, i spent way too much time on the teeth for that one...)
I've had a lot of fun playing this game! I beat Kale last night and have been picking away at the challenge levels for the majority of today. The characters are all so distinguished and memorable. I especially enjoy drawing Chai; he's so expressive. Love to draw a guy in distress.
