I headcannon where during super bloom years in Texas where the Bluebonnets bloom like crazy, Texas will smell like Bluebonnets, but he doesn't realize it. it's only the ones near him that smell it, but they never point it out because they just assume he knows or he put the sent on.

But it isn't till a someone gets close to him and tells him he smells nice that he finds out he's giving off a sent

I am of the opinion that more states should be fat or chubby.

Perhaps the more food they produce the more they could be. I have the slight exection of California, he should be skinny before some character develupment and then he should be a fat bear man after he changes for the better.

Texas city HC!

Houston is incredibly smart when it comes to rocket science, math and geometry and all that, but acts like a dumb ass and makes dumb decisions that get him in trouble

El Paso is related to New Mexico's city's and is always hanging out with them (i cant decide if they'd be siblings or cousins but there close). He also hangs out with Mexico's cities a lot too and is good friends/siblings/cousins with them

Fort Worth and Dallas live together despite the rivalry between the two. There house is a insane mix of sleek modern furniture and rugged western decorations. Dallas hates the rough look and clutter, and Fort Worth is always bashing Dallas for his bleak modern minimalist design choices

San Antonio is a sweetheart, he's often away on his own, and doesn't care to get involved with the others, but will always be there to get them out of trouble when they need him. Him and Texas are a lot closer to being brothers then father and son, but the cities treat him like a big brother. He's a lot more responsible then the others. He's also the strongest, and can absolutely kick anyone's ass

Austin lives with Texas. While all the cities moved out Austin stayed. It was mostly Texas being protective of him but Austin was comfortable their. All the other cities also dog on him for being weird and or obnoxious but if someone outside of the family makes fun of him it is not taken lightly

Corpus Christi is a very independent girl, and very feminine, but loves to be included in helping out with the hard to do ranch work and getting dirty or joining in on games of football with the others

since Austin is big a hub for a lot technology companies and such, even getting nicknamed Silicon Hills, i imagine Texas always asks for his help when he runs into a computer problem, but as so as Austin walks into the room it magically fixes its self.

Texas: "Austin! could you come help me with this"

Austin walks in "yeah, whats up?"

Texas points to the computer "this damn thing wont work i tried everything and-" he looks back at the computer, screen perfect with no error messages anymore "-it wont... work..." Texas stares at the computer in confusion

Austin looks at the computer "everything looks fine to me"

"its seem to be working now, sorry for bothering ya"

Austin smiles "its okay, call me if it seems to act up again" Austin leaves

Texas turns back to the computer angrily "Damn Computer tryin' to make a liar out of me"

im sure we've all been through this, were you're having a problem, you ask for help and as soon as you get there the problem disappears

so San Antonio built-up the river in a way that it will quit flooding, and that's how we have the river walk today. So is that the equivalent to getting a surgical procedure done to elevat a chronic heath problem?.

so in RDR2 there's a state called New Austin, and the only thing stopping me from hyper-fixating on it, is that there's not a lot lore about it, not even it's own flag. it's mostly just untamed arid area that looks like west Texas and New Mexico. it's the furthest west you can go, and there's not much out there. And is very under developed and it is known for having a lot of outlaws and such. Just very wild west

but here's the crazy part

Texas and New Austin exist simultaneously!

but hey, im not going to drive myself crazy making up a whole history and lore about this fictional state and how it would fit into real world and such (because it doesn't fit very easily), especially since there's not much to go off of, so im not going to dive to deep into this. but i think it's cool

I imagine he'd be a very wild version of Texas with a lot more Spanish influence

i might make up some head cannons later on, but im going to keep it to a post or two.

Anyway introducing mother that's a man and son.

Texas found Austin by the trash after he snuck behind Greg to get some food from inside the cafe, he was a stray. Now Texas won't let anyone near him and is his unofficial father. Greg has tried of several occasions to make Tex understand that they genuinely have no room for another kitten, Texas has made room. They share a bed and pretty much everything else. Food, toys, even the little blue scarf Austin has used to be Texas's. Basically one is always with the other.

On the rare occasions Austin is found by himself he's usually playing with other states. Or trying too. He's too small to rough house like they do and if Texas thinks they're being too rough he will step in and take Austin away.

He, much to Texas's displeasure, likes to play a lot with the blue states over Texas's cat friends. California is his favorite to play with because he's always letting him win. But any time he is caught near him Tex picks Austin up and drags him away before they finish. :(

These r the cats but I made Texas brown bc I thought it fit better. And he's fat. I like fat cats.

if you're wondering why their hair doesn't match, its a little HC i have

i like to HC that when the big Oil boom happened in Texas it turned his hair black, when it first happened his hair was Pitch Black for a few years but it did fade a bit to where if the light hits it you can see some brown. but before that it was just a basic brown color

i also didn't have a good concept of what Tejas would look like before this, so his design will change in the future

I like how everyone simultaneously agrees that

1. Tex loves space and 2. he’s super good at math/science

I also hc him to be great at history (specifically American, especially his own) and naturalized stuff.

I imagine even before space travel was even a feasible concept, Texas would stare at the stars endlessly every night admiring their beauty, He'd bask in the moon light hoping someday he might be able to float amongst the stars and planets

I imagine if the topic of a conversation somehow gets to space it will be all he can talk about

And he is really good at math and science like really good at it. I'm not good at either so idk how to characterize it, but he's good at it

I imagine it surprises everyone when they realize how much he knows about space, like if you let him he'll geek out over it for hours

Okay hear me out on this take for Ghost Towns

Now each Ghost town has different circumstances for their death

but for those who slowly lose their population, start to age and lose their immortality and eventually die of old age or anything else a mortal would die to, they basically lose the ability to regenerate their body at a magical rate

But I think it would be sweet if Mother Nature is there for them in their final moments.

I imagine for those who lose their population slowly tend to die alone and forgotten, but not forgotten by Mother Nature

But as I'm learning more about ghost towns, I will say that quite a few have unique reasons for their deaths. So I don't think I can have a one size fits all headconnon for them all

I think I might make a bunch of post about ghost towns for Halloween. I think that will be cool
