Hope you find something on this blog to make you smile :D I named this blog "Revelations of a Synesthesiac" because for as long as I can remember, I have lived with synesthesia. All that means is that I tend to associate concepts with color. For example, when I see a letter of the alphabet, I immediately relate it to a color in my head. So when I spell things, I actually see a series of colors. So, instead of the word "lemon" I see the colors yellow, green, blue, white, and brown in that order, because I associate the colors with the corresponding letter. Living with synesthesia has been a wonderful treat, bringing a little extra sunshine and color into my life even on the darkest of days. In the same way that this condition makes me happy, I hope this blog can bring a little color into someone else's life.

to me as a disabled housebound bedbound person the amazing digital circus is a chronic illness and disability story.
i broke down crying and had to pause the episode when Zooble said "But I had dreams and goals! This just sucks" because FUCKING SAME.
but sometimes people lose their place in the world. their dreams and goals are inaccessible. their bodies become unrecognizable. their personalities and emotions become unrecognizable. they deny reality, reject companionship. they dissociate from their lives and past selves. they lose the ability to be a part of the larger world and do the things they used to do and live the lives they always lived.
I dont think they will leave the circus and i hope they wont because i dont want a cure story.
sometimes you lose your life and you just have to figure out how to keep living afterwards.
and at least having someone else there makes it bearable. as long as you have other people, you can keep living even if your life is over.
iâve warmed up significantly towards the concept of small talk ever since i learned that its sole purpose is to make friendly noises.
as long as you smile and nod, people are satisfied. itâs just to show that you are nice and there with good intentions. weâre small in a big world and have to rely on other people to be decent to us. so we do our little human dance to each other to say, âiâm not here to hurt you. hereâs something we have in common, like the weather or sports or itchy sweaters, so we both know weâre on the same team. we both agree on a basic fact, like that it is rainy or that being itchy is uncomfortable, and this proves we can get along. iâm being light-hearted and non-threatening right now.â
small talk isnât to get to know a person. itâs just a greeting to affirm youâre buddies in the universe.
i am motivated by wanting the other person to know i am friendly, so i have gotten pretty decent at small talk when i used to hate it.
I can clearly remember the moment I first realised my mother and I were living on completely different planes of existence. I was 7 years old and I came home from my school's first track and field day having placed second or third in every event. the teachers had been making jokes all afternoon about how many times they had to call my name. my friends thought I was cool as shit. my enemies thought I was cool as shit too, come to think of it. I was proud as hell. so I get home with the entire front of my shirt covered in ribbons like I was a military dictator who'd awarded himself every medal, I walk into the kitchen and tell my mum all about my day, and she goes "oh, that must be disappointing not getting any firsts." and I'm like no?? first of all the first place ribbons are red and I don't like red. second of all look at me. there's literally nowhere left on my body for accolades. I am fucking Jacked of All Trades. how could this possibly be a disappointment.
btw if youre young and scared of doing adult things without your parents ive learned that like 90% of the time you can just tell the doctors office or the dmv "haha sorry ive never done this without help before... can you show me how to do this?" the employee will not care. if that means anything to you
Computers are so scary what if I accidentally hit F12 in a steam game and it takes a screenshot. What if I press shift + F12 while in word and accidentally save my document đ

Computer literacy is not a skill that gets taught anymore, and it is absolutely one that needs to be taught in order to be learned. Don't ever feel bad for not knowing something, but âď¸ don't ever stop learning learning about your environment, the tools you use, and especially the people around you
