Here is Taffeta, modeling a (very) few of the hats I’ll be selling at Resin Rose.  They are magnetic, just like my horns.  No elastic, no ties, just a magnet taped under her wig.  I carefully orientated all the magnets alike, so you can swap between them without having to mess with the magnet once it’s placed.

And while I’m brushing the dust off this account; I am a monster.  I have not touched Fusilli in a year.  Legitimately, a year.  There is a lot of guilt there.  The worst part, the very worst part, is my roommate’s 16 year old daughter.  Every once in awhile she sighs that, “The face in the bathroom is my favorite of your dolls.”*  Damn, right in the feels there.

*I usually do projects in the bathroom because the light is great, there is water to clean up, and that’s where my UV curing lamp is plugged in.  Fusilli’s head is propped up in the cubby of cabinet next to the shower so I have to face my failings every day.

If I say that here, I’ll have to do it.  And there’s no reason not to.  I have been cranking out dessert facilitators for days and I have a bunch.  Unlike my horns, they have the magnets installed already, so I can even show them on dolls.  I do not promise to post them all, but I will show you guys some of them.

I had a dream that I sculpted a 1:3 scale doll.  She was on the short end of the scale, like 50-52cm and she was curvy.  Not a pear, she had thick limbs, too.   It was a very nice dream.

I think I will not finish Fusilli, not to sell, anyway.  Everyone and their dog is either recast or accused of recasting others.  I don’t want to get involved in any part of that nightmare carousel.  It doesn’t even matter that, “Your work is garbage, no one would recast you, LOL!” because they’ll just say I ripped of someone else.  Dearmine makes 1/4 size anthros.  So do Luts and Amerai, now.  Does it matter that I started my project years before any of them?  I seriously doubt it.  People will still whisper about how I molded parts off the Soom MSD body that I don’t own.

I’m just gonna make cake hats.  If people want to yell about how I stole those, at least  I won’t be emotionally invested.

I gave Fusilli’s head another shot of primer over the last two days.  Both her head cap and her actual head.  I am not satisfied by the uniformity of her magnet holes.  And she still needs more ears.  Well, something is better than nothing.

For those not on my rambling main blog, my Real Life(tm) caught on fire late last summer and has been a circus since.  I think I have a handle on it, now, though.  Maybe.  Hopefully.  Well, even if I still have some embers to shovel sand on, I’ve been up and about lately and have hope this will continue.  I know, I thought it was over before, but I think I really do have the worst behind me now. 

I mean, I ended up with a tattoo and that is a capstone if I ever saw one.

Change of Plan

Okay, so the Life Stuff (tm) that has been bludgeoning me since last September is not letting up.  As soon as one thing is resolved, a new one crops up or a different one gets worse.  I am not finishing Fusilli in time for Resin Rose.

I will, however, get her head done.  Her face is finished.  Her head cap needs a bit of prime-n-sand, but is close.  I will make sure she has at least three sets of ears.  I am tossing the last pair I made...they are off somehow.  Anyway, I am going to regroup and focus on what I can do.  She fits really well on the Angel of Dream 45cm body, so that’s what I’ll get her to match.

Ugly, but functional.  She sits without falling backward now!

This might be the solution I needed.  Imagine that the top of the thigh was deepened and widened to more fully encompass the bottom of the thigh joint.  Imagine a fine texture of crosshatching on the inside of the thigh cup an a lightly raised “pebble” texture on the bottom surface of the floating cup.  All of that would be for stability, even the wider thigh top.  See the “tooth” there?  That fits perfectly in the slit in the peanut above it.  I really think this is going to work.

Yeah, I’m still here.  I am having trouble with the hips that won’t go away.  I thought if I took comparison photos with the three above, I might get inspiration.  Jenky Fusilli is jenky, but her thigh ball is rock-solid-functional.  The Doll Family A on the right is functional and very aesthetically pleasing.

I am so far behind schedule, but I AM NOT GIVING UP!  Say that I don’t finish her body; her head is ready to go.  I will have her for sale at Resin Rose 2018, even if it is just the head with a selection of ears.  Cat and bear are done-done, but I want to make either deer/sheep or humanoid elf ears to make a pack of three.
