i could stand to finish clown girl i think
i remember a while ago i was doing comms in a very specific art style and it was seasonally quite popular and then one day i noticed someone in my notes had one for an icon that i absolutely didnât draw, they had been inspired by mine and drawn their own looking at my gallery for reference, and you know what? i was so fucking tickled, like, literally just overjoyed because someone wanted their art to look like mine and wanted it badly enough that they did the damn thing and then they liked it enough that they made it their icon. how incredible?? i still think about it and smile even though it was probably the better part of 10 years ago. i canât imagine giving a fuck about anything but the fact that my work as an artist made more artists make more art
nothing is more tumblr than having a tumblr sexyman wiki and then warn you to not find some of those men sexy because it's problematic
people who donât watch horror movies are SO confident that they know everything there is to know about the genre. like itâs okay to not know things. itâs okay if you donât like friday the 13th or whatever. i promise you donât need to make an ass out of yourself on the internet about it
horror is an incredibly diverse genre, because there is potential horror in everything. itâs in nature, itâs in architecture and technology, itâs in human relationships, itâs in folklore, the past, the future, the mundane. there are horror movies from all over the world. it is straight up anti-intellectual to pretend that the handful of B slashers youâve vaguely heard about comprise the totality of what horror has to offer. If youâre just not interested in horror, or if you dislike certain subgenres of horror, then thatâs fine, youâre not obligated to like anything at all. but smugly announcing that you donât like horror because you dislike a handful of VERY specific non-universal tropes is just as stupid as saying that you hate comedy because you donât like adam sandler movies.
this is what I mean by anti-intellectualism btw
is there anything funnier than somebody who has a tumblr account trying to seem like theyre above fandom

Why aren't we talking about the real reason male college enrollment is dropping? (Celeste Davis, Oct 6 2024)
"White flight is a term that describes how white people move out of neighborhoods when more people of color move in.
White flight is especially common when minority populations become the majority. That neighborhood then declines in value.
Male flight describes a similar phenomenon when large numbers of females enter a profession, group, hobby or industryâthe men leave. That industry is then devalued.
Take veterinary school for example:
In 1969 almost all veterinary students were male at 89%.
By 1987, male enrollment was equal to female at 50%.
By 2009, male enrollment in veterinary schools had plummeted to 22.4%
A sociologist studying gender in veterinary schools, Dr. Anne Lincoln says that in an attempt to describe this drastic drop in male enrollment, many keep pointing to financial reasons like the debt-to-income ratio or the high cost of schooling.
But Lincolnâs research found that âmen and women are equally affected by tuition and salaries.â
Her research shows that the reason fewer men are enrolling in veterinary school boils down to one factor: the number of women in the classroom.
For every 1% increase in the proportion of women in the student body, 1.7 fewer men applied.
One more woman applying was a greater deterrent than $1000 in extra tuition! (âŠ)
Since males had dominated these professions for centuries, you would think they would leave slowly, hesitantly or maybe linger at 40%, 35%, 30%, but thatâs not what happens.
Once the tipping point reaches majority female- the men flee. And boy do they flee!
Itâs a slippery slope. When the number of women hits 60% the men who are there make a swift exit and other men stop joining.
Morty Schapiro, economist and former president of Northwestern University has noticed this trend when studying college enrollment numbers across universities:
âThereâs a cliff you fall off once you become 60/40 female/male. It then becomes exponentially more difficult to recruit men.â
Now weâve reached that 60% point of no return for colleges.
As weâve seen with teachers, nurses and interior design, once an institution is majority female, the public perception of its value plummets.
Scanning through Reddit and Quora threads, many men seem to be in agreement - college is stupid and unnecessary.
A waste of time and money. Youâre much better off going into the trades, a tech boot camp or becoming an entrepreneur. No need for college. (âŠ)
When mostly men went to college? Prestigious. Aspirational. Important.
Now that mostly women go to college? Unnecessary. De-valued. A bad choice. (âŠ)
School is now feminine. College is feminine. And rule #1 if you want to safely navigate this world as a man? Avoid the feminine.
But we donât seem to want to talk about that."

As a former zookeeper we would hear this a lot. âIf you donât study hard youâll end up cleaning poop for a living.â Itâs the one time weâre allowed to go off on the visitors. I once heard my boss rant for five minutes at a lady, in front of her kids, about how he had a Masterâs degree, how people literally worked there for free, and how dare she judge people without bothering to know anything about them. Later that day his boss came by and said, roughly, âShe told us what happened. Thanks for not throwing anything this time.â
I can count on one hand the amount of times I have gone off on people, but employment snobbery gives me the rage. I was showing the new kid how to use the fry scoop at McDonaldâs â.. like this, and then just sort of hold it perpendicular and give it one tap..â
And the new kid sniggered âisnât perpendicular a bit of a big word for McDonaldâs?â
Something in me was just so annoyed by this 16yr old who was learning to work right next to me and somehow felt above us? Fuck that shit. I pointed at the people just on the floor and went off, âsheâs a 4th year law student, sheâs the primary career for her terminally ill daughter, he raises 100,000 for charity every year, she manages 3 stores and more than ÂŁ16mil in turnover a year. What the fuck do you do?â
He just sort of mumbled âI didnât knowâ
âyou shouldnât have to know, youâre not better than us. So. You tap it once and then move it here to releaseâŠâ
âI didnât know.â
âYou shouldnât have to know,â
sometimes being a fan of something means not wanting them to make any more of it

Hey guys you should totally get into this thing i like. Yeah it's mid at best. It also aged poorly. You'll get nothing out of it at all. You'll like the idea of it more than the actual thing. But at least only takes half your natural lifespan to finish it
