38 Caleo
38. “You fainted…straight into my arms. You know, if you wanted my attention you didn’t have to go to such extremes.”
Leo wasn’t exactly sure what he’d done, but he knew one thing: it had been stupid.
That was easy enough to figure out, seeing that he had, after all, woken up in the infirmary. Though to be fair, there wasn’t anyone standing over him and screaming, and no one was there sobbing, so that was a definitely plus.
He did a quick sweep of the room as he sat up too fast. He blinked rapidly as his vision became spotted.
A hand grabbed his arm, steadying him when he groaned. “Are you okay?”
He blinked Calypso into view and she smiled.
“That was stupid,” he muttered.
She shook her head. “I thought I told you that before. You should really listen to me more often.”
Leo frowned. He wasn’t sure what she was talking about but— “I meant sitting up that fast, but I’m guessing you’re right anyway.”
Calypso’s gaze followed his arms as he gestured to the room. “I am right. You fainted…straight into my arms. You know, if you wanted my attention you didn’t have to go to such extremes,” she teased.
He felt his face grow hot as he mumbled, “Uh… yeah. Those extremes. Super extreme. Intense…extremity…?”
She leaned forward. “You do know what happened, right?”
Leo shrugged. “I mean do I want to? Honestly, I might just try it again.”
Calypso rolled her eyes. “I’d hope not. Because maybe next time I won’t be standing there to catch you.”
“But you have to catch me,” he protested, giving her a grin. “I’m falling for you!”
