At best, Steve did it out of possessiveness. “His girl” was disrespected which was a disrespect to him. Also not for nothing, my man was a little too well practiced in the breaking of that camera. Like I can’t say I wouldn’t at least want to do the same under similar circumstances but Steve was a little too good at being a dick in that moment for it to be ignored.

We don’t need to try to mitigate Steve’s assholery pre-enlightenment. It actually dampens his character arc if you ask me. I love him (my account is named after him I can’t pretend otherwise) but season one Steve was a selfish asshole, we don’t need to argue otherwise. That’s the point of his character arc. People grow and change.

I've also had kids who were (from my pov) rich, destroy things that my family could never afford to replace, so that scene kinda hurt - but I love Steve replacing the camera in the end.

jonathan byers is so important to me.

being one of the most misunderstood characters in one of the most popular shows ever, hated by almost everyone in the fandom, being surrounded by people, yet still feeling alone.

he’s one of the most precious characters to ever exist. comforting his brother, making sure he doesn’t feel the same trauma he felt and went through with his dad at the age of 11–12. not even a teenager yet, and already taking on responsibility.

having to plan a whole funeral for his brother at only 16 years old, not even a legal adult. not having ANYONE to help him, paying for everything himself. blaming himself for will’s disappearance, having gone through so much trauma and abuse that he has to look in his father’s trunk to make sure his brother wasn’t abducted.

even in season 4, caring so much about everybody but himself. getting high, yet the only thing that mattered to him was his brother’s happiness and whether he was okay or not. not telling nancy that he didn’t want to go to emerson, just because he didn’t want her to change her mind and ignore what she wanted, all because she wanted to be with her boyfriend. giving her all the independence she needed, something you don’t find in many relationships.

always being there for his brother, even if he wasn’t will’s first choice. proudly watching from the sidelines was jonathan’s forte.

Ok so I used to write. Like all the time. I had a published novel and a had a bunch of interlocking stories.

But when my husband died in 2018 he made me promise to write something I could sell at comiccon. And that froze everything creative in my brain.

Then there was the Old Guard and fiction around grief mostly.

And I am not sure when that stopped but it did.

But now I kind of want to write a story where Johnathan Byers marries an Aos Si. Because he just looks like a guy who would follow someone into a Sídhe.

He would probably be like "well that music sounds interesting" and "look an underground club that is literally underground"
