Notice in most of the scenes he's in, he's walking behind or towards everyone else

And in the scenes he's missing from, the in frame characters are looking backwards to the camera

Or the perspective is shot from above or at eye level, because he's looking down on Anya or crouching to meet her:

last night i had a disco elysium dream where if you bothered someone enough they would flash red and become SUPER muscular and you could only get out of being beat up if you passed a skill check for harry to do the whole "i'm just a little birthday boy" thing and if you failed you died

To anyone that sees this I HIGHLY recommend the manga Ikigami (fair warning, it gets p heavy it’s not for the faint of heart)

1) it’s a super short read with only 10 volumes and each volume is split into two sections of three “acts”

Basic elevator pitch (summary from MAL)

In a dystopian nation, a public prosperity law like no other is in effect: The National Welfare Act, in which citizens between the ages of 18-24 are selected to die for their country. Twenty-four hours before a nanocapsule carries out their death, the chosen receive notifications called "Ikigami" from government messengers. Kengo Fujimoto is a newly instated Ikigami messenger who is indecisive on his stance of the act. Curbing his hesitation to avoid the watchful eye of the national police, Kengo decides that delivering the Ikigami will help shape his opinion.

Ikigami follows how people act knowing that their final hours are upon them. Whether committing acts of kindness or crimes of passion, the chosen's actions have profound impacts on those around them, and it will ultimately lead Kengo to his decision.

Honestly, I can say that this piece has been the first time I’ve ever cried while reading something + the episodic nature makes it easier to read and get absorbed with characters but you also get some longer ongoing narratives (spoilers!! Some of the episodes connect to each other in really cool ways too)

I can tell I’ll be thinking a lot about this work lomg after I’ve finished it, seeing how different characters react to finding out it’s their last day in earth + the brilliantly done portrayal of a country’s propaganda + seeing all these different circumstances come into play has been really cool

It’s also super fucking sad though. Some of the arcs hit really close to home. I think my favorite arc is. Hagughhh this is so hard but I really enjoyed “A Lie To The Beloved”
