There's crashing sounds and cussing in the kitchen and Rust tells himself he can't let the house burn down, that fire safety is the only reason he's gonna get up, leave his room. But it's the wrong kind of lie, not the usual way he misleads himself. His heart isn't in it. His heart is elsewhere.

I don't know.
