The hustle and bustle of daily life
The stresses and strains of husband and wife
Feeding the littles and walking the dog
Oiling each circle of chain and cog
Washing the clothes, fold and put away
The same routine each blasted day
Keeping on top of that weekly shop
Realising there’s one same thing you forgot
This is all part of being a team
Whether man or woman or either (it would seem)
Run the house or have the job
Share the income, don’t be a nob
Each role is as important as the other
Carer, guardian, father or mother
Team is the word, not ‘I earn, not you’
Keep that thought and divorce I’ll pursue
Life is not always living the dream
It’s day to day running around like a steam
Engine fuelled raring to go
No sleeping in, it’s get up, let’s go!
Same old, same old, nothing new here
Bottles of gins and gallons of beer
To see us through until there’s a break
Oh… no break, sorry my mistake
We signed up to this… yep, we certainly did
Should’ve stayed under the stairs and hid
Instead of growing up and falling for you
Ok, I joke, I love you, I do…
Let’s plug on through until the house is quiet
Until the littles leave home I’ll be on a diet
Of rations of affection and your undivided time
Until then I’ll survive on fizz and red wine
We do have a laugh I can’t say we don’t
We argue as well, and I can’t say we won’t
Argue again, but let’s concentrate on being
The best family ever, and being a great team!
