Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
Rereading this before I read Mysteries of Thorn Manor and I think its even better the second time around. I adore Elisabeth, Nathaniel and Silas and their chemistry is amazing.
I gotta say, Rogerson is excellent at writing main characters that are strong, female, and actually likeable.
But how could I not love a character that adores books.
โYou like this place?"
"Of course I do. It has books in it.โ
The Luminaries by Susan Dennard
A secret town of monster hunters and a mysterious new monster that no one has seen before. SOLD.
I read this in two days. Could not put it down. And now I am DYING for the sequel.
This books was so good. It had a lot of horror elements in the forest, and the mystery Winnie finds herself in hooked me instantly.
And then we have Jay, the taciturn, bad boy hunter ๐
Seriously. November will not come fast enough.
Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson
Ok. I FINALLY read this. And absolutely loved it!!!
Iโd started it on audiobook a while back and just wasnโt paying enough attention so I gave up.
But I went back and read it finally and I could not put it down! I think itโs my favorite Rogerson book so far, which is saying something because Iโve loved all of them. But this one. Just *chefโs kiss*
The characters complemented and meshed together so well. The plot kept moving and the stakes kept rising and the climax was perfect.
Ugh. I loved it so much ๐ญ
Thatโs all.
โ๏ธ At dawn, we read!! โ๏ธ
But for real. I woke up at 4 this morning and could NOT get back to sleep.
So around 6 I gave up and started to read and subsequently finish Secretly Yours by Queen @tessabaileyisanauthor
I also started and finished Loathe to Love You by other Queen @alihazelwood
And I just. I canโt get enough ๐ฅน these authors write the best combination of steam, spice, and everything nice.
Only question now is, how can the rest of my day even compare?

All of Us Villains ended in a weird place, and it was a bit jarring, but once it settled into itself I could NOT put down All of Our Demise.
I highly recommend it if you enjoy Hunger Games-esque events, dark magic, and morally grey characters (Alistair ๐ฅน๐ฅฐ)
The whole vibe is so dark and moody and the story is thrilling. Especially since both books are out, youโll be able to go right from one to the other and avoid the jarring bit.

Immortality A Love Story by @danaschwartzzz
I must say, this book drew me in from the very beginning. Anatomy was a much slower start, but it pays off for the immediate entertainment and intrigue that we find in Immortality. The plot never staled, the characters were all interesting and played their parts excellently. I was kept guessing, and even when I thought I had it all solved, Hazel would surprise me with a new decision. Even so, I never felt Hazel sway from her true self and it was enjoyable to see her grow into her role as surgeon. I highly recommend this, especially if you enjoyed Anatomy. Not to mention itโs perfect for the month of love โค๏ธ๐ง

โWhat are you reading?
Iโm reading an ARC of Immortality: a Love Story by @danaschwartzzz and quite enjoying it! Iโm a little over halfway but itโs been terribly difficult to put down and Iโm very excited to see where it takes me.
Iโm bringing this energy into 2023
๐ Happiest of New Years my friends! ๐
Hereโs to a new year full of wonderful books just waiting to be read!
I managed to read and listen to 100
Books last year with a goal of only 75! Iโm astounded. Not sure what my goal will be this year but I am once again aiming to finish all of the books on my shelves.
I grabbed some of my favorites from 2022 for the picture
โญ๏ธWhat was your favorite book(s) from last year?!
Hi! I know Iโve been MIA but moving and the holidays has been hectic. But Iโm safe, a little bit cold, but my bookshelves are finally back together! (And definitely the first things to get put together ๐)
I upgraded bookshelves (and didnโt get big enough ones ๐) and my books are in place and my bookish heart is at ease!
Hopefully more content will be coming at you but itโs the holidays so if I donโt see you, Happy Christmas or whatever holiday youโre celebrating!
And hereโs to a bookish new year!

I put this off long enough and finally finished reading it.
For the most part, it was a very enticing read. I got hooked and couldnโt put it down about a third of the way in.
This book reminds me again of why I love Urban Fantasy. I love the juxtaposition of magic against a modern day world. And the magic system in Book of Night was unique and enjoyable to learn more about.
Every character seemed well built and thoughtfully placed and I enjoyed all of them in their respective roles.
My only complaint is the flashbacks. Each one was so jarring and disrupted the intensity of the main events. I felt like, especially in the beginning, we didnโt have enough of the main story going to spend time looking back to the past. I think I would have been hooked sooner if there had been more focus on the present story for the first bit and the flashbacks brought in later on.
All in all, it was an enjoyable read and I am very interested in a sequel. Definitely worth it if you love morally grey main characters and modern day magic.

Belladonna by @authoradalyngrace Itโs about time I come back from my unexpected hiatus, and what better book to do it with. Signa is a fascinating character and seeing her grow and change throughout the book was a gothic pleasure. But I must admit my heart has been stolen by Death, in all his forms. I loved his portrayal so much. His role was perfect and I loved the unique take. Then we have the mystery. A gothic murder mystery full of twists and turns and different victims and leads and I was kept guessing till the end. I am more than excited for Foxglove! I donโt know how Iโm going to wait until next year but I have a feeling it will be well worth the wait! ๐ซ Have you read this yet?
