it was really heartening to learn that the purpose of creating such a thick uterine lining during the menstrual period was to prevent the implantation of embryos rather than encourage them, and that our uterus is basically flushing out anything it deems unworthy during the period itself rather than “punishing” us for not being pregnant (which is how it’s usually framed). it’s almost as if your female body is more concerned with the protection and continuation of itself rather than being used as a procreative vessel.

It is commonly joked about in the SoC  fandom that Kaz never gets enough sleep, but it can be interpreted that Kaz’s refusal to sleep mirrors his similar refusal to address his emotional needs and relationships. This is seen in Crooked Kingdom where Kaz puts off rest in place of more “important” tasks relating to the job, but that is until Chapter 30 which begins with Kaz waking up after passing out from exhaustion. Just as Kaz could no longer put off resting and falls asleep, Kaz similarly can no longer avoid addressing his desire to connect with others. Chapter 30 sees Kaz reminiscing over a past crush he turned away years ago, acknowledging the similarities he sees between Jesper and his brother, and looking over the corpse of a man who was so alone when he died that animals got to his body before people did. So I went into the “Crazy Rich Asians” tag and frankly… I don’t know why I’m shocked?

Tumblr made such a huge deal out of “Love, Simon” because it was some nice representation for gay men and the LGBT+ community in general, and that’s great! I saw the movie later on and I liked it. And the same went for “Black Panther” – an excellent film and blockbuster, strong in cast, story, editing, and everything.

Both were fantastic films that were hyped on my dashboard for the representation and diversity that the many blogs claimed mattered and would always be supported. So many posts and gif sets flooded my dash, bringing my interest towards their films.

But then “Crazy Rich Asians” comes along and… it doesn’t seem like anyone cares? Without entering the “Crazy Rich Asians” tag, I saw two (2) entire posts calling for support for “Crazy Rich Asians”, and only one had a significant amount of notes.

But on a more serious note

Crazy Rich Asians is the first Hollywood made rom com to have an all Asian cast. And the first Hollywood made movie in 25 years to have an all Asian cast. Not only that but it breaks the typical stereotypes that all Asians are awkward/geeky/ dorky. It also shows that not all of us speak broken English and are more than just a sidekick/ best friend. Please if you get the chance, watch the movie and support minority representation in a predominately white area. If you like the movie, be sure to check out the trilogy by Kevin Kwan too!

You know what else was invented by women? Masked vigilantes, the precursor to the modern superhero. Baroness Emma Orczy wrote The Scarlet Pimpernel in 1905. The character would later inspire better known masked vigilantes such as Zorro and Batman.
