Ughhh the urge to become an Ao3 author haunts me like an addiction I've never known.
A good amount of you really enjoyed my post about cryptid Gotham,
But what about Wayne Manor? What if wealth wasn't the only thing Mother Gotham gifted to the Wayne's.
The Manor has been in the Wayne family for generations. A home that symbolizes the wealth and history in Gotham City. A home that wasn't just made with material- but with life. Mother Gotham knew what she wanted to do with the Wayne's when they first began making lives for themselves within her lands. She knew that these people could prosper and help others do the same despite the curses and despair that flow through her soil.
When the vast manor was being built, it gave her an idea. One that would keep the family tied to Gotham, one that would help them understand and see comfort in her odd nature. As the property was being built, Mother Gotham would give a piece of herself to the Manor, a piece of herself that would give it a mind of it's own. As the construction progressed, the heart of the manor grew. Becoming something strange, something beautifully twisted in a way that would only be valued by a child of Gotham.
The Manor had blueprints, a plan for what it was to become. But as Mother Gotham grew her soil over the brick and stone, and soaked her rain into the foundation. It slowly became something unrecognizable. On the outside it appears to be a sizeable, lavish manor that towers over anyone who comes near. With large gates that feel as though you are being trapped inside. A long winding road that feels as if you're entering another world. Vast gardens and trails that will get you lost for hours and possibly days. long vines that crawl up the sides like tendrils. And shadows that whisper and watch you.
On the inside it's like a labyrinth, an ever-changing maze with no end. Visitors often have a heavy feeling of being watched whenever they are left alone without a Wayne or the hired help. Wandering is heavily unrecommended, the house does not like outsiders, it wants you to wander. the halls will change and you will not find your way out. Seemingly endless hallways and rooms that weren't there before come and go. The only consistent rooms are on the bottom floor (not including the personal rooms of the resident's) which consists of: The kitchen, bathroom, dining room, living room, library and the main ballroom. These are the rooms that are mainly used, so they are the easiest to find, (even for visitors) and are often left in place. Any other rooms are to be found if you are with a resident or the Manor allows it. Although large windows cover the walls, the Manor prefers to keep it dark, with heavy curtains allowing only a sliver of natural light to shine through. The rooms are often being lighted with soft lamps. If you come across a room you cannot see into, do not enter. quickly shut the door and continue on, you will find the room you're looking for eventually. If you turn the corner to a hallway you cannot see the end of, turn back around. The Manor is steering you the wrong way. If you find one of the paintings empty or different from before- ignore it. The business of the residents is not yours to know. If you come across the stairs, do not not go up unless you are being showed to your guest room, it will be considered wandering. Once you are giving a room for the night, you will be allowed to head back downstairs but are only allowed to return when it's time for bed. Do not leave your room past 9pm. It will be considered wandering.
These rules do not apply to the residents. Anyone who is family will be accustomed to the Manor and will know how to properly navigate it without issue. Any personal areas such as the study and bedrooms are strictly hidden from guest. Do not bother looking at the blueprints, they will not help you.
Hope anyone who reads this enjoys <3 I actually enjoyed writing my last Cryptid Batman post so I wanted to expand on it. I did this on my computer instead of my phone so It's a little more cleaned up (I hope). But let me know if there's anyway I could convey something better. Again, if any fanfic authors or just someone who posts head cannons wants to build off this then go ahead. Just let me know cuz I want to see what's made of this. I was originally going include Wayne family history considering they have such interesting stories and its even believed that the manor is haunted by Joshua Wayne, who wore a mask and used the caves as an underground railroad, and his brother Solomon who was close friends with the man who designed most of Gotham's architecture. I also wanted to talk about how someone who moves into the Manor but Isn't related might adjust. Like when Alfred was first hired, or when Dick and Jason or pretty much all of Bruce's kids first arrived. How would they adapt to living in the Manor and how would the Manor adapt to them. I might write more about those Ideas but this post is already super long and I wanted to focus on the building itself and how It's basically a living creation with a mind of it's own. so too-da-loo kangaroos ✌️
Do u guys think Krypto and Bat-hound are best friends
Justice for my girls echo and query, not even the akinator knows abt them 😔
Every time I see photos of Dan mora's jaybin, it hits me like a freight train how young he was, and it makes me want to SOB :(( like its no secret that he was young but the way he draws jaybin that actually looks his age and it just sinks in. Like. He's so small and adorable, and he probably is still in elementary/ starting middle school :((( go drink a juice box
Im re-watching the Batman 2004 series, and his suit design is so scrumptious 😋 like im gonna put him in my bat lunchbox to eat at the park. The way the cowl looks is so nice, along with the white eye slits. They also give us so many good bat blob shots of him stalking criminals. His cape is so long and flowy with the spikes at the bottom to make it look like he's a shadow rising from the floor.
Look at how lovely he is
My hunger for cryptid batman needs to be satiated. I need more content, more fics, more art. I'm desperate for inhuman Batman. Inhuman Bruce.
I want Gotham to be alive, to breathe, feel, love, and hurt. I want her to be in pain, the corruption and desperation slowly overwhelming her air, tainting her streets. I want her to try to make better for her citizens..her children and try to protect them from the curses and darkness that burden her and their home.
I want her to give prosperity to a family of good people, a family who will spend their wealth to help others. It is a simple way to help- but it can work. These people, the Wayne's, they lived within Gotham for generations. They are smart and kind, they do not fall for corruption or hate. They give what they can to fight against the poverty, against crime. They give jobs and pay for homes. They are a small piece of her hope, a hope that her children will see their kindness and not only accept it - but learn from it.
I want the Wayne's to fall, just like they do in every story. That night - the night they were killed - is when it all changes. I want Bruce to fall alongside his parents, but to be reborn in secret. In the eyes of the citizens, Bruce Wayne is a wealthy boy turned orphan by a terrible crime...but in truth- the truth that lies between him and Mother Gotham, Bruce died that night, the boy who walked out of that alley wasn't Bruce Wayne. It was a creature that walks in his skin, a creature made from darkness, pain, anger, grief, and fear.
I want Gotham to grieve what could have been. What this family could have done if her people weren't so desperate and angry. I want her to take Bruce, a child of innocence who was made to become more, and I want her to feel the grief and fear he felt in his last moments...before turning him into something more. Something made from the shadows that hid the criminals, something to strike fear into those that terrorize others. I want her to make him into the embodiment of grief, fear, darkness, and hope. Hope that this new dark knight will protect those in a way she isn't able to as a last resort. a final attempt to heal the wounds, stop the misery, and fight the curses that infest the city in ways that the Wayne's were unable to.
I want Gotham to watch Bruce grow. He becomes a slight recluse as he gets older, spending his time testing his abilities, training. Gotham allows her knight to wander out of her borders. Knowing that he will come back experienced, aware of the world and trained to handle and keep up with her harsh environment. Not that he couldn't already, but you don't learn those skills and become the world's greatest detective from Gotham's lowlife criminals. Experience with the outside world is still important to becoming an unmovable symbol.
I want him to see the Grayson's fall. To recognize the fear and pain that oozes out of their lifeless bodies. I want him to see the corpse of what once their son Richard was, lying broken on the ground, and for Mother Gotham to give the Batman something new. I want shadows of a broken bird to fly across the sky.
Anywayyyy this went on for wayy longer than i expected so hopefully you guys liked this cuz wowwie i never written like this before. I'm tired of this sitting in my drafts so i just whipped up the last part and whoever want to write more or make a fic then just take it and run lol (tag me tho I want to see what you make of it).
Me when the riddler-
I want a fic where before batman reveals himself to the justice league, his kids convince him to prank them first. Like I want him and league to be up at the watchtower one day and as they're wrapping up a meeting, Batman stands and he's like "I've been working with you all for many years now and I trust you guys with my life.................which is why I want you to meet my children :)" and this just gives the league whiplash cuz it sounded like he was finally gonna reveal his identity but instead they find out he has KIDSSSS?!!! Batman fucks!??
So anyway, he tells them he'll bring them for the next league gathering at the watchtower and bounces before they can ask anything else. But the prank is that the batfam rn is calling all their trusted friends that won't be recognized by the league so they can dress up in a fake vigilante costume and introduce them as one of batmans children. Bc everyone who knows the batfam always jokes abt how he has a million kids so the idea is to trick the league into thinking that he has triple the children and freak them out.
Working in retail has forced me to see that a lot of people dont know how to exist
I headcannon that in a verrrrryyy Itty bitty part of bruce "I have a million kids" Wayne's mind, he sometimes gets the WORSTT baby fever. I know he usually adopts when they're in their teens, but once in a while, he'll see a cute baby being a cute baby, and in his mind, he'll just be like, "I want one 🥺"
