just occurred to me that with the possibility of more faerie lore there's also a chance that some of my headcanons will be disproven so I'm just gonna throw them out there now
Elder Faerie was something of a prototype virtue, his original purpose was to be a protector of cookie kind and an archivist of the witches' magic
The faeries were the first cookies to wield magic as well as the only ones before the fount of knowledge introduced it to mortal cookies with some help from Elder Faerie
Faeriewood is inherently magical, the very land and its flora seem to have a mind of their own and they're constantly changing and rearranging themselves in order to keep interlopers away from the kingdom, the only reason Pure Vanilla and the kids were able to encounter Silverbell is because of White Lily's soul jam
Prior to the beasts being sealed the kingdom, while still tricky wasn’t impossible for outsiders to find, pathways such as faerie rings patches of primroses, entrances behind waterfalls, or arched trees were hidden in plain sight and free to pass through
Elder Faerie is the only faerie that was baked by witches all the others either mutated from yeast spores or came about through other means
While adult cookies who enter the faerie kingdom appear to stop aging during their time there their mortal lifespans remain the same so a seemingly young cookie will still die if they grow old enough
though rare, small children can be an exception to this, since their bodies are still doughy and have not yet to fully set consistent long term exposure to Faeriewood and its magic can cause them to become immortal and grow wings, Mercurial Knight is one of these rare instances and one of the last before the beasts were sealed
Faeries don’t bake their own children, instead adopting sporelings as their own since they always come out as children once the mutation is done
because of this traditional family structures and the roles and titles that come with them (mother, father, son, daughter ect) don't exist among faeries of course this doesn't mean they don't develop familial relationships, they just have different names for them such as "ward" in place of son or daughter
More often than not faeries operate on a “it take a village” mentality when it comes to raising children however sometimes if a sporeling takes a liking to one particular cookie (examples include Silverbell with the librarian and Sugarfly with Elder Faerie) then they’ll end up taking on a more active role than others
Faeries of high enough status (members of the court, knights of Mercurial’s rank or higher and of course Elder Faerie) are given aliases and referred to as those aliases instead of their actual names, this tradition stems from a superstition that names hold power, therefore important individuals must keep their true names guarded for safety
Due to the faeries being cut off from the rest of the world many terms that originated from the faeries and information about them has been twisted and misconstrued over the centuries
Entering and exiting the faerie kingdom is disorienting and feels like being flipped upside down
