Hello, I think most of you reading this probably don’t know me or anything about me, but I wont bore you for long. Let it suffice to say that I live bellow the poverty line in the U.S. and that I help my mother and brothers with everything I can. I have worked my butt off in jobs since I was 12 and got to this country, and when I got laid off I freaked out. Soooo…I began selling books. I love books, I love reading and writing, I love their smell and their feel and well, so much more. I haven’t made much money yet, but enough to start my own website where I will be selling books, stationery and more.
Anyhow, my site is about to go live and there’s still SO MUCH TO DO, and I was hoping someone would be kind enough to beta it so I know that all the links work, that there aren’t any horrid misspellings and just to hear your opinions too about everything, from the logo to the color scheme to well…EVERYTHING. I can’t offer you much. Maybe a book or a download of my stationery once it’s ready, I was just hoping someone would be willing to help. If you are, please message me HERE.
I know I’ve been gone forever and a day but I’m back-ish and selling books now because depression is a bitch but I still gotta pay rent. Anyway, if any of you are interested I have 102 boxes of books and I’m posting new books almost everyday. I have everything from novels for all ages to educational materials, religious books, non-fiction and foreign language! Thank you for your love and support, please share if you can!
With season 2 approaching, I hope next season they don’t make as many editing/writing mistakes. Below, I’ve comprised a list of editing errors, I am not attacking the dialogue, writing or coloration like other people are for various reasons, for one, I love the coloration of this show, and the writing is perfectly fine for the demographic, I like this show quite a lot, so read the list below and let me know if there are more things I didn’t catch!
Season 1:
While Cheryl is putting blush on Betty, on episode 2, she doesn’t move from her place for a second, doesn’t reach down, doesn’t ask to be passed anything and doesn’t put down the blush, but is magically doing Betty’s eyebrows
During the peprally it is raining, and it’s noticeable on the Vixens’ outfits and hair, but when Cheryl has her breakdown both she and Veronica are completely dry, which is particularly noticeable on their blow-dried, perfect hair, this scene cuts to B and V outside and wet again.
Also during the peprally, Cheryl goes up on the stage after their performance holding a microphone up to her lips and hugs Josie while still holding it, and even claps when the team comes in with the microphone still in hand. My guess is that she had a speech that got cut in editing, but as it is, it’s odd.
It is mentioned on Episode one that the first arrest is made during 5th period, but the narration in episode two says it’s a “morning of reckoning” when Archie tries to go talk to the principle as they move to make Chery’s arrest
When Veronica is checking all the hate messages on the sticky maple post and her mother comes in, she is crying and has a clear tear streak down her right cheek. Cut to a different angle for her snarky comment with flawless makeup. Cut to the first angle when Betty calls her, where the streak is still noticeable, she gets up to pick up the phone and sniffles to hide her tears from her mother.
Veronica was at home when Betty calls her cellphone (presumably asking to come in to hear Ethel’s story in regards to Chuck), then Cheryl shows up to point out practice is about to start, what time is this? Why did V have time to go home, do homework and get back to school for cheerleading practice?
When V approaches B about calling Chuck Jason, they walk towards B’s locker, B unlocks it and opens it, takes out her bag and closes the locker, lock still unlocked, when she walks away, the lock is no longer hanging open but locked like all the others is surrounding lockers.
On episode 5 Archie & are fighting over a spot as captain, they are setting up a play during which it’s raining, cut to Archie looking at hi wrist while it’s not raining and everything is dry.
We knew that Andrews Construction would get the contract before it was presented at all.
Mentioned on episodes/Chapters:
4, by the Mayor: “The deal is done, Andrew’s Construction is scheduled to demolish the lot on Monday.”
4, by Jughead to Fred Andrews: “Mayor McCoy says you won the contract to tear down the drive in.” “I did...”
6, by Fred to Hermione “I am waiting on this huge bid...you know that new development where the drive in used to be...”
6, Mayor McCoy mentions she would like to present Fred the contract but the buyer has already accepted another bid.
Contract presented and awarded on episode/Chapter 6
Archie is asking Ms. Grundy questions about herself, cut to B & V going into her car, finding an ID with a different name and a gun, cut to them telling Archie they were in her car and asking if he asked Ms. Grundy about her name. Archie wouldn’t have known to ask Ms. Grundy about her name until B & V found the ID, so this makes no sense.
During Archie’s performance Veronica is backstage and then magically in a seat with other audience members
In episode 1 it is mentioned Veronica and her mother are moving to Riverdale because the apartment is the only property under her name, however, in episode 7 she mentions “The nest egg your father left us barely covers the rent of this apartment”. So...does she own it or rent it?
NOTES THAT AREN’T [editing] MISTAKES:
If sticky maples is a “Riverdale thing” like Kevin says, then people know about it, why did Betty have to investigate and ask if it happened to someone else? Wouldn’t she have known?
Riverdale is compared to “In Cold Blood” By Veronica in episode 1 and Jughead in episode 3. Did we need that repetition?
Trev quit the football team when he saw Chuck’s playbook, then why was he surprised when Jason stopped talking to him as he planned to leave Riverdale?
The conversation between Betty and Chuck at Pop’s is expository writing, it’s weird and doesn’t make good dialogue at all.
Within a few minutes Veronica gets called a “bad girl” by Betty (talking to her mother) and by Chuck (talking to Betty), this label has to be repeated only because it’s not an established character trait.
In the Narration, as Jughead writes, he mentions that the Twilight Drive-In is where he works, a home away from home. Why would he not tell the truth about him living there in his own book, one that nobody has read yet? (Though I really liked this twist.)
During closing night at The Twilight, Kevin, upset that the serpents are making noice throughout the movie says “Southside trash.” to which Veronica responds with “They’ve been doing that since opening credits.” Of course, Kevin knows that, they went together, no need for her to say that. A more believable line might have been “They haven’t stopped for a second!” or a complaint along those lines. Don’t tell us what’s happening, SHOW US.
These are NOT the only mistakes, but I stopped tracking them after a while. Ultimately, these are not all small things for a show that has gotten such a huge audience, and a show takes a lot to make, it’s difficult but it’s not impossible. If Doctor Who can do it with it’s ridiculously complicated timeline, so can Riverdale. Am I being too picky?
