I have documented a video showing military boats detaining fishermen in the Gaza Sea. My husband is a fisherman, and every time he goes out to sea, we live in constant fear for his life. Growing up, older folks would always get confused when I expressed familiarity with media from their childhoods and would act incredulous when I attempted to explain the concept of reruns. They'd be like "How do you, a child of this fallen era, know of Looney Tunes" and I'd be like "Because it has never not been playing on television" and this would seem to be brand new information to them
this is not to say you shouldn't make characters with strabismus- you should! i want to see people with my disabilities! but i think a little research can go a long way. i'd love to see it given more depth in writing than just being an indicator of intelligence (which it isn't and never has been!)

strabismus can occur from birth, later in life due to separate visual impairments, or because of physical trauma or strokes. it can cause permanent vision issues.

when you design a character, think about if the traits you give them exist on real people! they often do!
what do you want your art to say about disabled people?
Strabismus is a common effect of eye injuries: a classmate of mine got a glass shard in his eye because some jackass he was at a party with put a firecracker in a glass bottle, and after restorative surgery he regained most ohis sight in the injured eye but still has slight exotropia.

Hmmmm I wonder why people feel the need to explicitly condemn women and any action they may have possibly been a part of (like inviting a shitty guy to your wedding) yet do not extend this same behavior to men in the same industry who commit abuse and atrocities on a much larger scale 🤔?
