Imagine it

Everyone thinks the Russian figure skating couple has won gold. This competition of the Olympics has ended. The crowds though tired are thrilled by the excitement of it all, and they begin their begrudgingly slow walk out of the arena, chattering away in every language imaginable. But wait, what can it be? “Someone is out on the ice!” People yell out in various tongues, and a whoosh can be heard as collectively the arena full of people turn their heads towards the rink. There is indeed someone skating around the rink- a new contender perhaps? Whispers through the crowd tell of the man skating in circles without a care- it is Vladimir Putin himself! Everyone is suddenly stunned into silence as Mr. Putin deliberately begins skating towards the middle of the ice rink. It seems he is going to perform! The crowd knows not what to do as Putin stops in the middle and begins procuring something out of his jacket pocket…wait…is that…a collapsible cane? Indeed it is! And look! Here comes one of Putin’s advisers, skating out on shaky legs, to deliver…a top hat? Yes, and he sets it atop Putin’s head! Putin is now posing with cane in hands, right leg back in a dig, as though we were all about to watch Fred Astaire on Ice. The lights dim down in a yellowish orange color- not unlike the baked outside of a cracker- on the ice rink floor. The music starts up. It is electronic and vaguely sultry? Everyone waits in increasing anticipation. And then as Putin begins some fancy footwork towards the judges the light blinks on for all what song he has chosen: Putin on the Ritz.
