Wip. It's been a while since I've drawn anything based on my favorite movies. Hector Barbossa, my favorite character from Pirates of the Caribbean 🐒
yay star wars father daughter duo evil edition
Maul and Devon but he is an overprotective dad
the people love my chickens i’m gonna start chickening everything. i’ll chicken those pirates. barbossa is a crévecoeur. elizabeth is a brahma. jack is that piece of shit rooster who pisses everyone off so bad that he’s one wrong move away from becoming dinner. davy jones might actually be a turkey
Why, Hector?
POV you're Gibbs and went to your Cap'ns at the wrong time
lock the men up or they’ll get knocked flat 😼
incredibly niche elizabeth swann x ikkimel edit. target audience: me + maybe two other people. @nirvalethmyrr look what you did by introducing me to mother ikki
hey guys, don't know how to tell you, but it's sparbossa thursday already
Do you think potc took inspiration from raiders of the lost arc? I’ve watched both movies a lot and I see a lot of similarities and it makes me think that’s where they pulled a lot of inspiration from. I’d love to hear your thoughts
I actually have not watched raiders of the lost ark so cannot say definitively but I'd imagine it's bc both are pulling hard from an earlier hollywood adventure movie aesthetic!! like they could very well share a common early ancestor
Stuart Beattie, the second screenwriter hired for CotBP, said on the audio commentary that he was trying to recapture the same feel as Raiders of the Lost Ark when he wrote his draft, so at minimum he was inspired by it. Though it should be mentioned that the version of the story he worked on didn’t have the curse or any supernatural elements yet.
Also, besides a lot of broad similarities throughout the movie, this shot and nearly its exact context were lifted from Raiders
as already mentioned, CotBP took a lot of inspiration from Raiders of the Lost Ark. notably, the dinner scene on the Black Pearl shows so many similarities to the dinner Marion shares with Belloq. although setting, sequence order and context obviously differ, the scenes are nearly identical in certain plot points
dinner setting
obviously, there is the dinner setting between the male antagonist and female protagonist. Elizabeth and Marion are both captives who are now invited to dinner by their captors. they have neither eaten nor drunk something for a rather long time during their captivity, so both of them devour their offered meal
the dress
Elizabeth and Marion are both forced to wear a dress by their captors. (something i never noticed before searching for the movie stills is the fact that Elizabeth's color scheme during the costume change is reversed to Marion's)
the knife
during a moment of distraction, Elizabeth and Marion are able to hide a knife under a piece of cloth. by threatening their captor with said knife they try to escape. at last however, their attempts to escape fail because they run into their captive's minions
i'm crying. there are even the fucking green apples at the dinner scene in Raiders
