A JTTW headcanon that I have that I think about a lot is that Tripitaka develops a god tier Tired Dad Voice™ over the course of the pilgrimage. Like he starts out reacting to his disciples' ridiculous shenanigans by crying and screaming at them but by a few years in he will hear sounds of horrific unspeakable violence going on behind him and will just sigh and say "Don't hit your brother" and the sounds will promptly stop.

Additionally, at one point he gets kidnapped by a demon who handles him really roughly and Tripitaka, freaking out and kind of on autopilot says with the voice of a man who has three demon sons, "Let's be gentle, please," and the demon just stops and feels really guilty for some reason and is like "Yes Mr. Tang Monk, sir," and keeps tying him up but is nice about it this time.

Strangely enough, since my last few sketches of the JTTW crew, I feel as though I’ve improved.
