did the jojolion fanbase ever grow from more than 8 people
I've just finished Jojolion
Beware of the spoilers ahead!
This is just my opinion, but first of all, there is a lack of content compared to other parts that it's kinda disappointing... The thing is the more time I think about the whole story, the more I'm attached to it.
Araki did his way into making Part 8's story really WEIRD and yes, it's a compliment because it exists a lack of filter in JoJolion among any other parts that I can understand why people are refrained to read or maybe they have been told: "it's not that good as Steel Ball Run" or its main villain is the worst compared to other iconic ones. Or even I've read the main villain it should be another character.
Well, JJL evokes completely the word 'bizarre' in every aspect and overall, what it's the meaning of being human, a real family, your own identify, love... a ton of philosophical questions I've observed thoughrout the series. Jojolion, in particular, excels in this, the characters mostly aren't particularly considered a saint, others are morally gray or others straight up bad people.
No matter what, in the end, they want one thing: connections with others. Very human, right? They want to feel validated, they want to be considered relevant by a group, they want to be seen, in the moment they lose that... they lose their purpose.
Yes, this need could be pure like Josuke's, it could twisted like Jobin's, whose main goal is showing to his family he can change traditions, he can show to his father rules are a constraint and a weakness, he wants to gain his respect even though he crossed many lines in order to cure Higashikata's curse. It could be bad like Tooru's who lacked from the start a figure he could rely on. It's not because he is a rock human (we saw rock humans having an underlying brotherly sentiment with each other despite the shady Locacaca business between them), it's because he was left alone when he was born, he fed himself by being parasitic, he learned he needed to feed from others in order to be stronger so he never let anyone close to his heart because society rejected him when he wanted to be seen in the medicine field. But in the end, he wants to be perceived... either by earning a lot of money selling his investigations or being knowledgeable in the scientific world.
Jojo usually with main villains, or better to say the way Araki writes them, uses contrary outcomes from what they truly desired. For example, Kira from part 4 wanted only a peaceful life, which it was impossible due to his nature, he was a serial killer, what happened in the end? He died in the most human way possible, by an accident, as a mocking twist of life. Coming back to Tooru, he appears near the end of Jojolion, we must remember in the radio gaga flashback, he was seen to be recollecting these Locacaca fruits, so he was planning this a long time ago, but despite he wanted to be recognised, we only see him at the end, Wonder of U, his stand under his wishes, act like the main villain while he waits until it's the best moment to retrieve the fruit, cowardly, without been seen.

Funny how quick I accepted Jotaro is autistic even though it isn't explicitly said in canon material. Like, I can’t conceive he isn't, it would explain better why he handles emotions and relationships the way he does rather than "he is just a tough guy".

"No matter how many times you feel that way,
there will always be warmth here.
Even if it was a mistake, I don't care, I'll always be by your side."
I open for commissions and ready to draw art of your favorite character (Madoka Magica, tv series, games, manga, anime series, etc). I also could draw your own OC.
If anyone are interested please send me a DM.
