“engaging in media” like everyone should. by relating it back to nbc hannibal. quite frankly the first tv show ever created by man
Christopher nolan is annoying for many reasons but the biggest are of course 1. He's nothing without his brother 2. He doesn't know how to make anything anymore without a 100 million+ dollar budget to cushion his mediocrity
I'm an Iliad gal, and let's take a moment to thank Christ that Nolan didn't choose that one to butcher.
Nolan is very good at Big Cool Expensive Cinema, but emotion and meaning and cohesion aren't his forte, and that's fine, and so the odyssey was the better choice of the two.
But man I wish he had stuck to superheroes and space.
Considering his insane budget, what could've been the most beautiful and grand film we ever did see turned out to be a dull, poorly paced, poorly characterized and understood depiction of an old text
He could've so easily swayed and set it in modern times or idk, an alien planet, and leaned into it being a new version of it, but no, he's set it in an ancient Greece that never existed, butchered so many characters, cut so many pivotal scenes, but it was in IMAX and it has Hollywood actors so actually we should love it.
All this and I haven't even gotten to the fucked up decision to get Moroccos permission to film next to Dakhla.
Just another 1% white man feeling entitled to the entire planet, so much so that he disregards history and current harm his film would be causing.
And obviously it's doing well, and everyone loves it, and everyone disliking it is too woke and oh my god I don't care.
This has made me hate Nolan, you guys should listen to epic the musical, it's not perfect, and it makes a lot of the same shortcuts, but it's true emotionally, it seems to understand the original text, and no one was harmed in the making of.
Amen.
sure no one asked to read the script because it wouldn't be very nolan suck-up of them, but if anne "i think penelope loves odysseus" hathway tom "i didn't know my character was so important" "i didn't read the odyssey i only knew there were cyclops" holland lupita "i haven't read the odyssey" "i would ask homer why women have so little screen time" nyong'o matt "it depends it may be a love story" damon read the script what would have changed? they are proudly ignorant of what they set to adapt and lacking any real curiosity to learn about it. the only one who read the script beforehand robert "he's like jacob from twilight and she is indecisive between two men she loves" pattinson is proof enough it would have been pointless anyway.
Now that everyone is discussing Nolan's Odyssey movie, I feel like it's a good time to let non-Italians know that the production dumped plastic props into the Italian sea. Weirdly enough I could not find any article in English about it but it's a fucking problem nonetheless.
I might translate this article later today. This one was the most complete one, even in Italian news it's not talked about that much.
Non è la prima volta che la produzione solleva un vespaio in Sicilia. A Lipari una squadra di sub sarebbe però già impegnata a bonificare i

There's always something so painful about watching a pretty good actor fighting for their life to give a decent performance of an absolutely dogshit script. Putting their whole heart soul and pussy into delivering the stupidest lines you've heard in your life. My god. We have to get them out of there
