hello! if i recall correctly, you've said you edit photos to make a lot of your backgrounds; can i ask what kind of filters and settings you use to get the "look" that you do?
I wanted to make a proper tutorial on this, but it’s too complicated and I don’t know how to explain it in English. So all I have now is this rough record of my drawing process I’m not sure if it helps since not many people use this software at all but here we go.
Process:
Turn your background photo into greyscale.
Tweak the photo's curves to make your darks darker and your light parts lighter, so that the image is made of stark black and white instead of greys. You're essentially increasing the contrast. (This usually looks like making an half-bell curve shape on the graph.)
Add some slight posterization. (Not all art programs have this.) This process flattens gradients into large areas of even tone and makes images look more comic-book-like.
Delete the white area in your image using the magic wand tool, giving you a transparent image.
Add shading using a screentone brush. Give the background a vignette (darker at the corners) and lighten around the figure's silhouette. Specifically, aurora gives the figure that halo effect by alpha locking (locking the transparency) of the tree image and painting it with white.
Fox symbolism
Dead, said the dog, teeth bared a glistening. Why, said the fox, heart beat a quickening.
So many ruthless/pragmatic characters get revealed as hypocrites when the sacrifice required is personal, and that's why it's really important to me that Stratt does genuinely care about Grace and also it doesn't make her hesitate for a second. That's her friend and she dragged him screaming to the sacrificial altar with clear eyes and no apology and she would do it again. What a woman.
