This Is What It Feels Like
Gemini Heart
PIECES
The cruelest words fell from your tongue like ashes flicked from the end of a cigarette
They hit the ground carelessly and burned when they touched my skin
The things you said when you were inebriated left me anxious and confused but at least your drunken words were honest
They were the only things I ever got from you that I didn't have to give all of myself for
The nights when you were full of spirits were the only times I heard something said from your soul
Most of these scars came from you but don't be fooled I learned how to heal myself long before I met you
I had to break every bone in my body each night before I could set myself right
You should have cut me deeper if you really wanted me to bleed out
You should have scratched out my eyes if you didn't want me to see
You should have broken my knees if you didn't want me to crawl back to you
You should have sewn my mouth shut if you didn't want me to speak
I would sooner rip out my teeth before I bite my tongue, you of all people know what it's capable of
You didn't want me but you needed me there because you hated being alone with your thoughts
Maybe if your blows were delivered with force instead of fear they'd be more convincing
We both know you could have swallowed me whole but you kept me alive because you like to play with your food before you eat it
You devoured my flesh but had to spit out my bones and someone else found shelter under my rib cage and lived where my heart used to be
You fostered my anxiety and nourished my insecurities and wondered why I lacked confidence
Self love is a journey that I never got to go on because you made me afraid to leave my house
I worshipped you in every language that I spoke but that wasn't good enough because I couldn't praise you in the way you demanded
My heart turns violently inside of my chest, my soul rattles around in me restless
I had faith before I met, I slept well before I met you, and now my body rest less
You're to blame for my lack of R.E.M. so don't call me a heathen because I'm losing my religion
I did what I had to in order to survive you in the hope that others would learn from my pain
Adore her. Value her. Make her feel wanted. Remind her that she can do it on her own but let her know she’ll never have to. Be her confidant, her biggest fan, her best friend. Be her right hand, her shoulder to cry on and everything in between. Listen to her. Don’t just hear her, make the conscious effort to listen to her. Absorb her words. Compliment her intelligence and do it often. Give without expecting anything in return. Remind her of who she is when this world does everything it can to make her forget. Let her hurt for as long as she needs to and let her heal in her own time, in whatever way is best for her. Expect that at some point she will get knocked down, be prepared to pick her up. Trust her enough to handle her own problems, only offer a solution if she asks for it. Admit when you’re wrong. Don’t just say “sorry,” say “I’m sorry,” and mean it. Never respond to “I love you” with “me too.” Tell her “I love you,” do it often and never stop. Give her space when she needs to be alone. Respect her boundaries. Never use her insecurities against her, especially in the middle of an argument. Sometimes she won’t want to be touched, respect that, find other ways to take care of her. Never assume you’re entitled to her body, time or affection. Appreciate every little thing you receive because it’s a gift. Love her body at any size, weight, shape and age. Love every single inch of her body and never forget that only she can determine her self-respect and worth. Never tell her what she can/can’t wear, do or post. Never try to control her. She controls every aspect of her life. Don’t let people speak negatively about her. Don’t let her enemies spread lies about her. Let her know she has your time and attention, whenever, wherever. Make her smile until her face hurts. Make her laugh until she can’t catch her breath. Make the effort to spend as much time with her as you can. Be her one constant amongst the unpredictability. Grow with her. Challenge her intellectually. Revere her mind, cherish her heart, feed her soul, appreciate her personality. Never make her question how much you care about her. Never make her feel bad for crying. Validate her feelings. Give her your unwavering loyalty. Give her your unconditional respect and love. Care about every little thing that is important to her. Believe in her goals, never let her forget that they’re always within her reach. Share in her passions. Support her friends. Suppress her fears. Encourage her dreams. Starve her insecurities. Nurture her self-love. Foster her ambition. Treasure her weirdness. Embrace her independence. Celebrate her “flaws.” Support who she wants to become. Be in awe of who she is. Find a new reason to fall in love with her each day.
Thank you so much. You mean so much to me. The things you say and your attitude and appreciation towards women is so refreshing and amazing to see. Tonight is a hard night for me but going through your tweets and blog is really helping me.
Thank you for saying that. I appreciate your kind words. I’m sorry to hear you had a hard night but it makes me feel better to know something I said helped you in any way. If you ever need someone to talk to feel free to message me.
FINALLY, your poetry is truly beautiful and touching. it has taught me to love my body, my outspoken and independent personality, and to love ALL women. thank you for encouraging self-love and loving all of those around you. stay woke. (3)
Thank you. This means so much to me, more than I can probably express properly. It makes me feel so good to know that you love your body and knowing that my writing had any affect on you is surreal. And being recognized as being woke is the best compliment I could receive. I really appreciate it. Thank you for taking the time to write this, it made a difference in my day.
If he won’t accept your body hair as a natural part of you, if he refuses to embrace the shape and size of your breasts, if he doesn’t appreciate each kink and curl of your hair, if he doesn’t gently trace every beauty mark, if his hands don’t hold onto your thighs for dear life, if he doesn’t eagerly explore every fold, crevice, dip and curve like it’s a new advendture, if his fingers don’t run along every scar and wrinkle like he’s walking along the shoreline of a beach, if he doesn’t think your stretch marks are as beautiful as the stripes on a tigress, if he doesn’t kiss your cellulite with so much passion that your insecurities fade away, if he doesn’t get down on his knees and lose his mind between your thighs as he breathes his life into you, if he doesn’t want you at every size, every shape, every weight, every time of the month, if he hesitates to love your flaws, recognize your worth, give you his unconditional respect, compliment your inner beauty, admire you for the work of art you truly are, cherish your heart, arouse your mind, feed your soul and worship every inch of your body, then he isn’t worthy of you.
You are a goddess. Please love yourself enough to never settle for someone who won’t acknowledge that and love you completely.
I whispered your name last night.
It was an accident, I swear.
It just slipped from my lips and got lost in the air.
Your ring gathers dust on the nightstand, even after a year it’s still sitting there.
Because like a fool I still miss you.
And like a fool I still care.
The only reason you should care about a girl’s “body count” is if she kills each guy after she has sex with them. If that’s not the case, then shut hell up, treat her with respect and remember that a woman’s self-respect is not tied to her sex life or what she wears and her value is determined by her, not by her number of sexual partners.
Let's Say
Let’s say I walk past you. Let’s say we don’t speak. Let’s say I was too afraid to introduce myself because when you looked at me it made me feel weak. Let’s say the next time I see you I kiss your hand and say something sweet. Let’s say the third time I kiss you on the cheek. Let’s say I brushed the hair out of your face. Let’s say you let me. Let’s say you welcomed that sweet embrace because it was the first time a man has ever touched you so gently. Let’s say you wanted me as much as I wanted you, so I wouldn’t have to be so terrified of losing you. And so I wouldn’t have to analyze everything I say and everything I do. Let’s say I didn’t feel paralyzed every time that I saw you. Let’s say your beautiful brown eyes meet me from across the room. And you’re the only one I notice because the room is filled with people who are less important than you. Let’s say that everything about you was unique, from the way that you dress to the way that you speak. Let’s say that you intimidate me with the way that you walk. Let’s say I want to hear about every single detail of your day because I love to hear you talk. Let’s say that I was good enough for you. I know that I’m not but for a second let’s pretend that it’s true. Let’s say that you were ready to try something new, because you were tired of being hurt and sick of bring lied to. Let’s say I asked you out and you said yes. And you wanted to impress me so much that you wore your little black dress. Let’s say you looked so beautiful you made me lose my breath. And when you said my name it made my heart turn violently inside of my chest. Let’s say that I got us a table for two, outside overlooking the bay, so you could enjoy the view. Let’s say that you turned every head when you walked through the door. And that when you walked to our table plates, silverware and jaws all crashed to the floor. Let’s say we went for a walk through Central Park. Let’s say we kissed and you felt a spark. Let’s say we danced underneath the stars, until you couldn’t feel your feet and your legs felt numb and you regretted wearing such high heels, but you allowed yourself to get lost in the moment because you forgot how wonderful it feels, to let your guard down with someone and just trust they won’t hurt you, and that this relationship will finally justify all the heartache you’ve been through, and in that moment you realized you had never been happier than you were dancing with me in those moonlit streets, gently moving to violin music so delicate and so sweet. And when we looked into each other’s eyes you forgot all about your legs, because the last thing on your mind were your feet. But just to be safe I’ll carry your shoes. And if you get tired of walking I’ll carry you too. Let’s say it was a night you would never forget, and now you smile when you think about the day we first met. Let’s say I wrote you a love song. And it was a ballad so moving that you couldn’t help but to sing along. Let’s say that you’re the kind of woman that deserved love songs and not poetry, because a poem could never do you justice without the help of a melody. Let’s say that you felt safe with me. Let’s say you ran away with me, and just for one night we forget about everything and make our way across the sea. Let’s say we end up in Paris, France. Let’s say what we have is true romance, that it was meant to be and we weren’t together just by chance. Let’s say there was a little box in my pocket but you couldn’t tell. Let’s say we were beyond words so we let our bodies speak for us because we danced so well. Let’s say we held each other until we saw the sun rise. Let’s say I fell to one knee and took you by surprise. Let’s say that I want to do everything in the world with you. Let’s say I love you. Let’s say I do.
Women aren’t shaped like Coke bottles because they weren’t made to be enjoyed and then recycled.
I want to use my tongue to trace every inch of your intricate design so that I'll always have the memory of your body in the back of my mind. I want to hold your hand so tight that your fingers leave an impression on the back of mine. I want our fingers intertwined so tightly that nothing can slip through them, not even time.
If you have trust issues with girls because of makeup, fake nails, false eyelashes, weaves/extensions, implants, push-up bras or filters, you really need to reevaluate your life and get over yourself.

When I was younger, I would sometimes wonder what it was like to be a dog. It just seemed like they were always having the time of their lives because they have the freedom to do whatever they want. As a dog you can eat whatever you want, pee wherever you want, you don’t feel pressure to lose weight or exercise, it’s socially acceptable for you to never mature, people let you kiss them even when they don’t want you to, no matter how funny-looking you are someome out there will want to take you home, people still think you’re cute even when you’re old and gray, you can give into your primal instincts and no one will blame you, those who know you make excuses for your bad behavior, girls are friendly to you even when they’re secretly afraid of you and they’re loving towards you even after you’ve hurt them.
It’s like being a guy, only when someone tells you ‘no’ you actually listen.
Guys expect girls to have huge breasts, a small waist, a big butt, long hair, a flat stomach, tanned skin, a cute face, long eyelashes, perfect eyebrows, full lips, a thigh-gap, long legs, wide hips, thick thighs, know how to cook, show a lot of skin but not dress “slutty," be sexually experienced but not be promiscuous, love wearing snapbacks, sneakers and high heels *but not be taller than the guy while wearing said heels*, has to love watching sports, won’t call them on their b.s., won’t be jealous of their female “friends”, has to love wearing lingerie, push up bras, yoga pants, thongs and g-strings but can’t wear uggs, heavy makeup, big sunglasses, high-waisted jeans, high-waisted shorts, red lipstick, fake nails, fake hair, leggings, pantsuits or their hair in a bun, must always in the mood to have sex, be “open-minded” in bed, can’t have beauty marks, stretch marks, cellulite, scars, too many tattoos, kinky hair, dark skin, body hair or a vagina or breasts that don’t meet their warped standard of beauty and can’t weigh more than 120lbs.
And yet they’re deeply offended when girls say they don’t date guys shorter than 6 feet.
A message to boys & men:
“No” means no.
It doesn’t mean “Convince me”
It doesn’t mean “Not right now”
It doesn’t mean “Don’t give up”
It doesn’t mean “Impress me”
It doesn’t mean “Prove to me you’re worth my time”
It doesn’t mean “Try a different approach”
It doesn’t mean “Be more aggressive”
It doesn’t mean “Show me how much you want me”
It means NO! She’s not playing hard to get. She’s not playing mind games. She doesn’t secretly love the attention. She isn’t testing you. She doesn’t want you to “man up” and take her. She wants you to leave her the hell alone!
When a girl or woman rejects you, don’t get mad, don’t get even, don’t get aggressive or hostile.
Swallow your pride, silence your ego, accept her decision, be polite, be respectful, then simply walk away; and don’t invade her personal space again without her permission.
Honestly, it really shouldn’t be that difficult to be a decent guy.
