“A lot of the time you don’t register the important moments in your life as they happen. You only see that they were important when you look back.”
— The End of the F***ing World ( 2017 )
The thing that hit me about The End of the F***ing World is the realism of the characters. It’s about two kids with bad attitudes who are unhappy with their lives and make stupid decisions that any teen would make. But the way they react to things show they are not the grown ups they pretend to be–they are just kids whose decisions got way out of hand. The development of Alyssa and James was never forced, but brutal, honest, and real. They were never bad people, and by the end, they are still not perfect. But hey were never meant to be. They were meant to be human, finding themselves in the messy, out of control way that humans do.
