Wouldnāt it be hilarious if Steve was just naturally amazing at DND?
Like he can see the strategy clear as day and canāt understand why the other players are taking so long to decide on their next move. Heās never caught by surprise by the story. He built his nearly flawless absolute weapon of a character in less than twenty minutes.
Eddie fucking hates it but oh boy does it turn him on.
(āHow did you know talking to the bartender was a trap?
āEddie Iām literally inside you right now please stop asking me about the game,ā)
what about 20s steddie but they meet at an underground drag show and eddie got his freak title bc he's one of the drag queens, in his flapper girl looks and long hair? steve is immediately down bad
i'm missed the part where you mentioned his long hair so i just sort of imagined him pinning it up to make it look short to really Sell The Look but anyway i've had this post in my 'to draw' folder since you posted it, hope you enjoy!!
canāt stop thinking about steve and eddie both being in the hospital after everything. theyāre in the same room but separate beds, both high out of their minds on pain killers. and both steve and eddie are sobbing bc robin and wayne wonāt let them leave their beds to go lay with each other.
Steve is "I have a guy for that" about everything but all of his guys are half feral teenagers with untreated PTSD, a paranoid lesbian, and Nancy Wheeler
Eddie is also "I have a guy for that" about everything but all of his guys are Wayne
Eddie post a Tiktok where heās laying on the floor with his head propped up by the couch. He looks deep in thought and then raise the camera so you can see Steve and Robin asleep on the couch. The camera comes back down and he asks, āWhy did Buckley come over to my house to take a nap?ā
Eddieās about to say something else but he hears something behind him. He sits up and turns the camera around, catching on film Steve mumble in his sleep āmoronsā and then Robin repeat him in her sleep. Eddie sounds incredulous when he says, āThey have the same dreams???ā
no one asked but this is the post that inspired this! thank u immensely for the luv <3 number 1 comment was wondering what steveās bids were & from his pov, so without further adoā¦enjoy ā part one here!
ā
Begrudgingly, Eddie has to admit that Robin might be right.
Itās impossible not to be looking for the bids since he brought them up to her. Even though Eddie was fully expecting to tell Robin to suck it, maybe even wager what little money he had against this working out, Eddie canāt help but watch for them in every interaction. And fuck, sheās right.
Theyāre little, but theyāre there.
The first one Eddie wouldāve missed if he wasnāt looking for it. Actually, thatās a lie; Eddie does miss it, until Robin points it out, the nosy bitch. Itās minuscule and honestly, it just seems like Steve asking his opinion ā which friends do all the time! Itās why Eddie brushes right over it.
āOkay, be honest,ā Steve had said, walking and talking as he entered the living room where Robin and Eddie were sprawled across the couches. They were both waiting on him, the three of them set on heading out to the drive-in to catch a film.
Eddie canāt fathom why Steve felt the need to change his outfit for it, but when he returns, he gets it. Itās not quite the usual polo Eddie had grown to like on Steve, this one hanging a little looser, the colour a bit darker than Steveās usual choice, the sleeves a little shorter ā almost midway to a muscle tee.
Steveās fingers fiddle with the distressed collar of the shirt, smoothing invisible wrinkles and fussing over nothing. He swishes back his floppy hair with a flick of his head. āItās a new shirt, I know itās a little different - but what do we think?ā
It took some time to formulate, a few too many times with guys careless with his heart, who leave behind more heartache than happiness littered in their memory. Itās fucking hard to tell.
More than once, thereās been a dude who promises between kisses iām not going anywhere and takes more than his fill during a night which Eddie desperately hopes is passion and not some misguided lust. Only to wake a familiar empty side of the bed, them gone ā skipping town, back in the arms of their parent-approved girlfriend, or back to spitting his name out with the word freak.
Itās what the test is for.
Itās specific, purposeful, all intending to weed out the straight boys who liked to dip their toes in the pool of queerness and leave Eddie to any consequences of the heart. Eddie doesnāt want to turn cruel, to be too jaded after feeling used too many times. Itās what the test is for. Protect the heart, see what interest is genuine.
Right now, heās putting the test on Jared. New in town and in Eddieās life, heād captured the metalheadās gaze from the glint of his pierced ear and light eyes that lingered. Kissed a little mean, and with too much teeth, but Eddie chalked it up to excitement. Jared seemed good. Nodded and smiled when Eddie found himself wrapped up in yet another DnD spiel. Said he found it endearing.
The test is simple.
A bid, a nudge, for attention. Never anything big or too excitingā that always got him specifically warped smirks designed to lead him along. Just something minuscule, like will you come take a look at my notes? or can i play you that riff once more? to see if it gave.
The pattern runs deep in Eddieās dating history; same olā jerks who couldnāt bother to come and look at his new DnD sketches are always the ones who are only leasing a new sexuality for a month. Itās like setting a minefield and seeing who stumbles on a landmine, the bids getting ignored is as early as a warning sign heāll ever get.
Since Iām loving the concept of āaccidental husbandsā, I present you Steve being tired of his family assuming his relationship with Eddie is just a phase and he will marry some girl in the future, so he starts referring to Eddie as his husband.
He enjoys his parentsā outraged reaction so he keeps doing it until it becomes normal for him and one day heās doing something as simple as ordering take out and Steve says āoh, and my husband will haveā¦ā with Eddie next to him.
Steve doesnāt even notice what he just said but oh boy, Eddie does.
