the inaugural women's professional baseball league teams
the article going over the whys of the names of anyone wants it is here, and it made me nearly cry at my desk:
https://www.womensprobaseballleague.com/2026/07/08/introducing-the-first-four-inspired-by-legends/
Ohhhhhhh! [article here]
Boston Hunters:
New England’s coastal hunter, the osprey doesn’t circle and wait. It picks its target, folds its wings, and hits the water talons first. We move fast and we move first, striking out the competition without hesitation. The Hunters are inspired by Harriot Hunt who, like the osprey, set her mind on a goal and made it happen. A trailblazing physician, she was one of the first women to practice medicine professionally in the USA, despite being denied admission to Harvard twice because of her gender. Like Harriot, the Hunters are ready leave their mark on history books.
Los Angeles Queens:
Inspired by our namesake, Lizzie Murphy – nicknamed the “Queen of the diamond”- the LA Queens are built on the confidence, presence and influence she carried throughout her trailblazing career, qualities that also define Los Angeles. Lizzie Murphy broke barriers at a time when opportunities for women in pro sports were extremely limited, showing the world how true talent rises to the top. We carry the Queen of the diamond’s legacy, channeling her confidence, ambition, and style. It’s time to claim the throne.
New York Heights:
Built around the ambition, intensity and relentless standards associated with New York, the Heights demands excellence. Just like our namesake, Dorothy Height, we’re ready to rise to the occasion. One of the most influential leaders of the civil and women’s rights movements, Dorothy Height dedicated her life to advancing equality for all. As we take the field, we‘re inspired by her confidence, leadership, and unwavering commitment to her goals. Just like Dorothy Height, we‘re ready to rise to the occasion and change the game.
San Francisco Firebells:
Forged in fire, inspired by the rebellious spirit of Firebelle Lil. San Francisco has burned and rebuilt more than any other American city, but like a phoenix, each time we’re knocked down we come back stronger. As a teenager, Lillie “Firebelle Lil” Hitchcock Coit famously leapt into action to help San Francisco volunteer firefighters battle a blaze on Telegraph Hill. She became an icon for the firefighters, known for rebellious attitude and open defiance of the gender norms of the time. Like Firebelle Lil, we show up and show out, bringing our energy, pride, and ambition with us every time we hit the field.
I listen to two songs i enjoy in a row and im like "i would be such a good dj"
I dont need an ai generated quote unquote "curated" playlist because i have something that can only be earned: the taste of someone who didnt have a lot of friends as a teenager

Landsman John Henry Lawson (June 16, 1837 – May 3, 1919) was a Navy sailor who received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the American Civil War.
He was born in Philadelphia. He enlisted in the Navy in New York in December 1863. On August 5, 1864, during the Battle of Mobile Bay, while serving as a member of USS Hartford’s berth deck ammunition party, he was seriously wounded after a shell wounded him in the leg and killed or wounded the rest of his crew. Despite his wounds, he remained at his post and continued to supply the Hartford’s guns. He was one of twelve men who received the Medal of Honor for heroism that day.
After leaving the Navy in July 1865, he returned to the Philadelphia area, where he raised a large family and earned his living as a huckster.
Over time, the tombstone marking his grave subsided, fell, or was worn to the point of being unreadable; a fire at the cemetery offices destroyed burial records and the cemetery map; and his exact resting place is not known. On April 24, 2004, a new tombstone was dedicated in his honor and placed among at least 72 other Civil War veterans who are buried at Mount Peace. On April 24, 2004, the headstone was dedicated at a ceremony attended by veteran groups, politicians, several of his descendants, and local community members. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence
Dwayne McDuffie was a groundbreaking writer and creative force whose influence reshaped animation and comics in ways that continue to resonate today. Through co-founding Milestone Media, he helped open doors for more diverse storytelling and established a platform where underrepresented voices could lead and thrive in mainstream comics.
His work in animation left a lasting mark, with contributions to projects such as Justice League Unlimited, Static Shock, Teen Titans, and Ben 10: Alien Force and Ultimate Alien. Across every project he touched, McDuffie brought a deep understanding of character, structure, and world-building that elevated the medium and expanded what audiences expected from superhero storytelling.
More than a writer, he was a builder of frameworks that changed how representation could exist in popular media. His legacy continues to influence creators today, serving as a reminder that innovation and excellence are universal, and that meaningful storytelling can shape culture for generations.

Two Utah court clerks have been dubbed "anti-ICE vigilantes" after they were allegedly caught "sneaking" immigrants out the back door of the
That's how you show real solidarity!
"After they overheard that ICE was at the courthouse to arrest someone, they improperly accessed court databases to determine who was not born in the United States," a DOJ detention filing says. "They then snuck every suspected illegal alien who was at the courthouse out a back door, where ICE, who was waiting in the parking lot for their target to leave the building, could not see them."

There is no death. Life is a dream. It’s a wish. Made again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and on into eternity. And I am all of it. I am everything. I am all. I am that I am.
They purposely target passports specifically because they apparently enjoy watching people react to their passports being thrown off a cliff/otherwise put somewhere humans can't reach
They have also figured out roadcones and will deliberately set up their own road closures (on the road to Milford Sound for instance, where there are always cones available in case there's an actual problem needing a very quick response like a landslide or tree avalanche)
