I scrolled through the notes on this post and my favorite has to be one mockingly accusing Madeline Miller (a Latin and Greek teacher with a Masters in Classics) of needing to do research and she wasn’t a real writer like them.

Learning english exclusively through school and the internet is funny as shit actually. I'm fluent in a language that I've never spoken face-to-face with a native speaker. I've never had a problem with who/whom or their/they're/there, I'm fluent in reading and writing it but my accent is so fucking thick you can't tell if I'm trying to say "there", "gear" or "care". I could probably go into voice acting and immediately get cancelled for sounding like I'm impersonating some racist stereotype of some eastern-european village I've never heard of.

"Why do you sound like some 15-year-old girl from California who writes bad porn on AO3" I don't sound like them, I just type like them, and for the record those bitches fucking raised me.

concept: RPG game where all of your party members are former villains that were working for the big bad and are the major storyline bosses you fight. every time the final boss gets off his throne he finds you hanging out with more of his lackeys. Area protagonist refuses to stop stealing henchmen with the power of friendship. 

Bonus if the visual designs / overall sensibilities of the party members make them unorthodox player characters, but fit with them being boss fights- so they have strong gimmicks, weird hangups, morally grey or even actively amoral, and their motivations range from “I threw in with this guy because he made lavish promises to me but then he just wanted me to be his evil stooge and I think it’s time to take what I’ve got and go” to “was totally onboard for this until the guy pulled a You Have Failed Me For The Last Time on me and seriously that wasn’t even my fault” to “really I never gave a shit about this world destroying thing I just wanted to have some fun and engage in some irresponsible hedonism but guess boss really actually wants the world rendered unto ash and that’s a buzzkill”
