Please excuse the pedantic caption, but I just loved this guys mug. German tire engineer working for Dunlop...these guys always look worried!
Last night saw the award of the first Glickenhaus Trophy here at the NĂŒrburgring. Given for the fastest time over then old 14 mile Nordschliefe course. Clean-cut German lad Maro Engel took the prize driving a big AMG Merc. The trophy is a stylized extrusion of the Nordschliefe, which looks pretty flippin cool. For Autoweek
Going to cover a race (in Germany!) for Autoweek magazine this weekend. It's the 24 Hours of NĂŒrburgring--I will be embedded with a team doing a sketch journal of the experience. WATCH THIS SPACE! Think I should I bring my helmet just in case...?
Revving up the brushpen for a trip to--the NĂŒrburgring!
I just learned of these people called fashion bloggers. Being a grown human who posts his drawings on Tumblr, Instagram and the like, I cainât say a word against such folk...but I can raise the waistline of their jeans. From a Todâs âcampaignâ
Ye olde ârule of thirdesâ...sketched for my life drawing class with a Tombow brushpen that was in that perfect space between too-wet and too-dry.
San Diego Opera is in the midst of presenting âToscaâ (tickets still available Fri. and Sun.!!) Me and the immortal Eric Shanower sketched the final dress rehearsal. Go check it out--the orchestra even promised to dress up if you buy a ticket.
The original is back home from a (truncated) weekend in San Diego. âTwas the fourth edition of San Diego Comic Fest. This was the program cover.
See, I didnât have to do much to it in Photoshop.
Happy to see my art made the cover of San Diego Comic Festâs catalogâŠbut it printed a little âhotâÂ
This here #caricature  looks way more like Bobby than my photo of himâŠhonest. Back pag esketch for FUME comic buyer at San Diego Comic Fest (which was pretty lively this year, if not particularly profitable)
Emily couldnât decide between a Nimoy or a Freddie Mercury...so I gave her both!
San Diego Comic Fest asked me to do the cover for this yearâs gathering. Honoring Forrest J. Ackerman, purveyor of the âFamous Monsters of Filmlandâ magazine. The image came to me in a vision...saw it thru with ye olde trusty felt tippe markers.
Last semester a student volunteered her dog as a live model. His name was Red.
Those people, that corner, explained.
Iâm practicing putting people in their place. (please disregard the little mans in the lower corner)
Chic family of four from Marseilles sat next to us most days on the beach. Xmas morning we all shook hands and wished each other a Merry day. No parenting more impressive than mellow parenting--espâly when conducted in French.Â
