Palestinian men should not have to repeatedly hold up pictures of their family struggling through a genocide, for us to care about them. Fundraisers conducted by/for Palestinian men, should not have to repeatedly refer to their mothers, sisters, wives and children, to make us realize their humanity, their vulnerability. Enough. Isn't it enough after so many months? Hadn't it always been enough?
Studies show that approaching youth with a bystander-intervention model is actually a lot more effective for reducing sexual assault, and it is also more enthusiastically received than programs that bill themselves as anti-rape.
We can tell youth that they are basically ârapists waiting to happenâ (anti-rape initiative), or we can tell them that we know they would intervene if they saw harm happening to someone and we want to help empower them to do that (bystander intervention). The kids jump in with both feet for the latter! It was amazing to see children (and young boys in particular) excited to do this work and engage their creativity with it. Also, studies show that not only do they go on to intervene, but they also do not go on to sexually assault people themselves. Bystander intervention also takes the onus off the person being targeted to deter rape and empowers the collective to do something about it. It answers the question in the room when giggling boys are carrying an unconscious young woman up the stairs at a house party, and people are not sure how to respond and are waiting for âsomeoneâ to say or do something.

This is also, btw, how the US drastically reduced drunk driving in the US. Telling people they shouldnât drive when intoxicated made absolutely zero difference. A slogan-and-ad-campaign for âFriends donât let friends drive drunk!â changed drinking culture. Going after the bystanders is quite often the most effective thing to do in any social change.
#empower people to make the changes they want to see#donât feed their fear that they are one wrong decision away from being the evil they despise (tags via @rum-and-shattered-dreams)
the world keeps moving all around me. i go outside and watch people buy in abundance, complain about traffic. i watch influencers sell us their latest makeup product, hair product, selfie light, stanley cup, starbucks order. the construct of whiteness has created two worlds. one where bombs fall somewhere far away and people think the greatest inconvenience is a boycott. and another world where we stay up to memorize faces under rubble, hold on to lines of poetry during the 100th day of bombing, and wait wait wait for a different ending to a very old story. i want no part in their world of comforts, in their life of escapism. how can i escape the orphaned child,a US bomb falling on him, signed off by my million luxuries. how can i continue looking people in the eye.

Petition for Canada to stop arming Israel
In case you havenât seen it yet: hereâs a petition for Canada to stop arming Israel. https://www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en/Petition/Sign/e-4745
Hereâs a proper link to the petition. And some additional details:
This is not a random change.org petition thatâs not going to be seen by anyone important - this is a petition authorized by a Canadian member of parliament that will be reviewed by the Canadian House of Commons.
You must be a citizen or resident of Canada to sign.
Petition closes on February 24th, 2024.
update: the petition closes on february 19. dont forget to check your email to confirm after signing!
as a reminder, a previous petition calling for a ceasefire was followed by canada changing its vote at the UN. these signatures are not going unseen.
stop. stop. it is not just the women and children of gaza. it is not just the mothers. it is also the men. the fathers, the uncles, the vendor, the neighbor, the barber. stop dehumanising them. they are also being killed. they are also being bombed. they are also losing loved ones. palestinians are also losing their fathers and brothers. stop it. stop erasing the pain and suffering of palestinian men. they deserve our love, care and voice just as much as the women and children do.
idk who needs to hear this rn but suffering is not noble. take the tylenol
One time when I was younger I was refusing to take headache medicine and my mom said âthe person who invented that medicine is probably so sad you wonât let them help youâ and now every time I find myself denying medicine I just imagine the saddest scientist making those big wet eyes like âwhy wonât you let me helpâ and whoop then I take the medicine
scientist when you don't take the medicine they developed to help your pain
As long as you are taking a SAFE dose of it, then it's *good* for you. Pain is bad for the body. The inflammation from prolonged pain can worsen chronic issues and make it harder to heal.
Ibuprofen is best for pain that has inflammation, while acetaminophen doesn't help with inflammation but is more broadly effective on other types of pain. As long as you are taking the recommended dose, you can even take them TOGETHER, since they have different mechanisms of action.
You do need to be aware of how much and how often you are taking any pain medication. Overdoses can be very painful (even lethal.) And if you are in chronic pain often enough that you need more than the safe dose, then you need to look into other medications to manage that pain.
(Also, if you are specifically taking Acetaminophen/Tylenol for your go-to pain management, getting some NAC and taking that with it reduces the risk of overdose AND may strengthen the effect.)
One other thing: NSAIDS (ibuprofen, aspirin, and naproxen being the three big ones) can cause digestive issues with chronic use, including stomach ulcers. That doesn't mean "don't take them," it means "if you're at the point where you're on them all the time, every day, constantly, you should talk to a doctor about either reducing that risk or switching to another medication that doesn't have those side effects."
I donât have the source for this table anymore but I felt it should be added to this post.
Also please please please consult your doctor if you are on any other type of medication that put large strains on your liver or kidneys before taking any kind of NSAIDs as they can recommend alternatives.
all my haters become gators when I travel through the bayou of success
lmfao thinking on the mbti stuff it's really fuckin funny cause like,, ppl wanna insist intp and infp are practically functional opposites, because one consults a logical framework however personal to make decisions, weighing options and their possible consequences, while infp consults personal thoughts feelings and emotions to form a moral and emotionally gratifying decision. and sure!! on paper these sound very functionally different. in practice for me tho?? less so!! bc ofc I try to make the most logical decision, but are possible thoughts, feelings, and moral interpretations completely unworthy of consideration when making a logical decision?? no. very much the opposite.
(full rant and reasoning under the cut here :3)
humans donât have enough ornamentation. whereâs the plumage, the antlers
i could go for a good vibrant throat sac i could display as i sing in the mating season
Humans have some of the most extreme hair variation over their bodies in the animal kingdom, with hair on some parts of our body a few millimetres long and fine enough to be almost invisible, and hair in other parts a good metre long if not artificially trimmed. Part of the inside of our mouths are turned out to make our lips bright red, we have comically oversized breasts and lack penis bones to make erections more indicative of impressive circulation, and have some of the most complex behavioural adaptations to self-ornamentation for courtship seen in anything that doesnât spend half its life collecting blue bottle caps. How much ornamentation do you want?
Iâd like antlers, as previously stated
I want bioluminescence
Sonar
Flared webbing would be nice
